The guy with the New Wave hair is an actor / comedian. It was common for broke actors and comedians to fake their way on to these shows and treat it like an improv skit while the producers maintained plausible deniability because they checked nothing.

That is correct (although, I don't know about that particular guy). Remember The Dating Game? How many wannabe actors appeared on that show.

Same with audience members…people loved going on talk shows and if you watched them enough you would recognize the people. They were always the people that asked the guests questions. You would see someone on Jerry and then on Sally

That commercial brought back some memories. Levitz was pretty much the one place my sister and I never minded having to go to. Because while our parents were on the floor taking their time browsing, we'd enjoy the downstairs TV room. We didn't care how long they took upstairs. Lol

A bunch of us guys used to call these party lines from our high school computer room. This was in the days long before the internet, when cavemen walked the earth and we were still using modems to dial up bulletin board systems. You older people remember what I'm talking about. Anyway, we'd call up these party lines and pretend to be girls, then have the guys call us back on the school's phone and prank 'em. Suckers. Those were some great times. Until the school got the phone bill. Each one of us got about forty whacks with a rattan cane. Those things hurt!

I used to work for the party line temporarily to make some money in the 80's and it was good money and they told me to pretend to be somebody else. I had to pick a name and they told me what to say. I actually got a stalker and I had to quit. But this party line is all fake with actors. Not that i'm an actor but I got paid to pretend to be somebody else.
