@@partyarlie I feel the pain, I did some on/off hunting in pokemon Y back in 2017 for an entire year trying to get a shiny Noibat. Kept a logbook of how many encounters I did. I got it by november, passing 62,000 encounters and getting 17 shinies before Noibat. Longest drought was 8734 and shortest was 112.

My first random Shiny in both Gen 4 and Gen 3 were in the Safari Zone. Magnemite in Soul Silver and Female Nidoran in Leaf Green. And I actually caught both of them. Both of those catches were very stressful.
