It's so funny that an integral part of this game's lore includes "Team Meanies".

Scarlet is the most engaged with a mainline Pokémon story and it's the only time I've completed a Pokédex on my own steam, but it's definitely got issues

I completely agree with the allegory about relating your partner pokémon to a kid you met that made an impression on you and you never see again. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon feels to me so frequently like a hazy, beloved memory. I remember the story beats and feeling like I was on the adventure of a lifetime, but so much time has passed that it’s never all quite in focus. I remember welling up with emotion and I remember feeling quite triumphant. It’s an RPG that treats its young audience with an immense amount of respect. I played Explorers of Darkness.

I remember buying my copy of red rescue team all the way back in 2006, was in fifth grade. I truly believe it's as close the pokemon franchise has gotten to a perfect game. Iconic music, storyline, and if you're into all the grindyness and minutia, the game has incredible depth and replayability. Still to this day I play through my original copy on an SP once a year.

I remember the banishment from the town so vividly. The music in the dungeon afterwards shifted the tone of the game so much. Also MULTIPLE other teams hunting and basically wanting to kill you, is so intense. Maybe I could have a chance against Gengar and his team, even if outnumbered, but with all the items and some luck it might be possible, I thought. But having the a 5000 IQ Alakazam and his veteran team hunting me had me in pure panic. And yes, ofc I cried when I vanished into the human world. No other pokemon game had me feel this way ever again.

You never gonna believe me but the last Pokémon game i ever played was Pokémon Emerald. But thanks to your video, i might try out mystery dungeon.

While Explorers is my favourite of the series, Rescue team still holds a special place as the first. Very glad we got the DX remaster on switch, that has an absolutely gorgeous art style. Never not cried at the mystery dungeon endings

Mystery dungeon is a perfect test for childhood vs adulthood. As a child, the town betraying the player is easily forgiven, it’s part of play. As an adult, they are far harder to forgive and Gengar is a monster who deserves far worse then he gets

I have very fond memories of when Red Rescue Team came out way back in 2005. I was in the third grade and obsessed with Pokemon like most kids back then. That time period from 2004 to 2006, from the cartoons I watched to the games and toys I played with, super super nostalgic for me. I remember Nintendo advertised this heavily with commercials and the Pokemon Rescue Team anime they showed on Cartoon Network which had a whole Friday dedicated to Mystery Dungeon. It got me super excited and I asked my mom to get me the game for my birthday that year! Looking back it was my first introduction to a rouge-like game but with the simple exterior of Pokemon. Also the story has always stuck with me all these years later, way better than anything done in the mainline games. Really enjoyed this video!

My biggest and most important memory occurred later, long after I first played Rescue Team and Explorers. I had a whole timeline of events that I created, OCs I created that went from one story to the next. In this, I had it so the Rescue Team continent was north of the Explorers continent. ...And then Super Mystery Dungeon came out and confirmed that to be canon. Air Continent was north of Grass Continent. I was beyond ecstatic to see that my very own idea of the geography of this land was canon and that everything truly was in the same world.

jeez. even though it wasnt my set of player and starter nor the game im most used to (EoS), but i still felt deeply moved during the four? seconds of seeing mudkip reunite with the player after seemingly being lost forever. its awesomely strange that despite the formulaic "you must leave your partner for good... wait nevermind you can come back and keep grinding for HMs", the mystery dungeon games hold such power every single time. hits just as hard in rescue team, in explorers, and in super (never played gates to infinity...) its like some kind of transcending language that conveys to each listener. a story retold that entails how through fortifying a persistent companionship which withstands all doubt and danger, individuals will become completely inseparable.

I wonder how much of the cities being boring is how unoptimized the game is and having to not have graphics to make it work, you compare sword and shield and scarlet violet graphics and they look like were made in different consoles, with scarlet and violet being the older console.

I LOVE Mystery Dungeon; it was also the first game to genuinely make me cry, and I still get choked up thinking about the final moments of the main games, especially Rescue Team and Explorers (Explorers of Sky remains the pinnacle of the franchise). I just finished listening to the 6 and half hour long soundtrack and the music brings back so many memories. It's always awesome finding more people who love this series Do you think they'll put DS games on Switch online/Switch 2 online when that comes out? Or do you think a remake of the Explorers games is more likely?

Just found your channel through this video! Subbed. Explorers of Sky was my first Mystery Dungeon game. I loved it a lot. Celebi, Grovyle, and Dusknoir's storyline will forever be part of my core memories as a kid.

I think alot of the plotline in PMD is why i was so obsessed with the storyline in Pokemon Legends Arceus, a totally different pokemon game. Another false truth that you are responsible for the world falling into madness, you're banished and have to fight on your own for a while to find your way back. In PMD you aren't alone though when you get banished, such an awesome game :)

"Y'all mind if I talk about Pokémon mystery dungeon for 19 minutes" the only way I would mind is if you were on my way from getting a new PMD game Also one of my fondest memory of my first pokémon dungeon (which was Gates to infinty, that i will defend until my last breath) was meeting Vividium first resolution with keldeo, when she says that both the letter and the frost message are from him. And that she may not know what happened and- Man i dunno, i get emotional about this. your friendship broken, but mended, but you dissapeared. It's a whole thing for me. Also weird fact about the genders i leanred later on: Emolga is a boy (that fact just flew above my head), Munna is a girl and Hydreigon is a boy in the english versions of the game. Since i played in french, The genders were swapped for the two for me. Really funny !

The music from Mystery Dungeon Red/Blue is so nostalgic. I used to just sit in the Dark Ridge friend area and listen to the song. I just added a two and a half hour mashup of all the songs to my music playlist after watching your video. I remember putting in hundreds of hours into this game while I was still in school. Cyndaquill (me) and Mudkip went on so many adventures during the main story, I was like level 45 before getiing done with Sky Pillar. I just couldn't believe how much there was to the game, from the Gummi/IQ system, the quests the pokemon in the town would send you on and the growth of the friendships they had with eachother and your main pokemon, to all of the different legendary pokemon in the dungeons post-game you could recruit to your team that would unlock unique friend areas that you couldn't get from Wigglytuff. Getting the statue outside of my rescue base after getting the final rank has to be in my top 10 gaming achievements. Thank you for making this video, it brought back a lot of good memories. 😊
