They every much played it safe here. Apart from the extra faction creation layer with the tombs and affinities, the meat of the game is just a fantasy version of Planetfall + DLCs. It'll be a solid game - nothing revolutionary but a good iterative addition to the franchise. I did lose faith a little when PE mentioned how unstable your allies can still be. Dragging you into unnecessary wars and forcing you to break treaties and suffer reputation damage in one of the dumber holder overs from previous titles.

Question: a few spells and abilities cost population in a city. Does doing that make the city lose provinces? If it does, is it the most recent, or random? And can you lose a small city that way?

Doesn't seem to lose provinces, but when you regain that pop naturally you just dont get new ones until you surpass your natural amount

Afaik, watching a stream this week it didn't. But when a city grows back, it doesn't get any new provinces until its population reaches the threshold to be eligible for one.

There's a mistake in the video when discussing leveled up heroes - each gets a free skill respec, after which it costs imperium. So you can easily pick whatever skills you want when you get a new hero.

I wonder (yeah I meant to say that) if they have created too many strange obstacles and requirements to play a strategy game. I mean the whispering stones, imperium, recruitment points, vassals... that's like limiting you artificially. "You can't, because...."

Having a resource isn't an 'artificial limit'. Resource management is what 4X is about. If you remember AoW3, where you expanded purely on gold, maximum expansion all the time constantly was *always* the correct strategy because cities paid for themselves. By implementing imperium (roughly equivalent to cosmite in planetfall) they have added depth, because now there are more consequential decisions in resource management.

@@st8113 Natural resources are just fine, and part of strategy games. THESE resources are made up limitation to expansion and army building, you can't find them anywhere on the map to get more. Like in reality you don't have any whispering stones or imperium to stop you, does number of vassals limit your recruiting? No, population and food and other resurces do limit your recruiting, but you can increase these to recruit more. I've played all the AoW games except Planetfall, so of that I don't know, but if it had similar inventions, I'm not a fan of the system.

I saw a lot of video of this game. I didn't see the water spell from previous game (AOW II & SM) :( Moreover, I saw Yaka, Nimue, Arachna, Fangir, Artica, and Karissa amongst the available wizard but I saw only Karissa and Fangir. The other are unlocked later or are they hidden ?

There's a Pantheon meta-progression system built-in based on your results from previous matches. I'm not sure, since I haven't played myself yet, but I think I've seen someone mention that some of the Story Realms are unlocked through it (potentially introducing new heroes and rivals from the lore).

This is a "if you have to ask the question...". If you are not confidant with your overall video gaming skills, then you should start out on the easier/easiest settings or with a tutorial until you are confidant with ramping the challenge up. There isn't any particular shame with using easy settings. It is just less visible since high difficulty is much more entertaining to watch and discuss about.

The same turn summon movement is a bit much. I hope it gets nerfed so that summoned units can't move on the turn they arrive. This will level the ground with the AI and will make less shenanigans in multi. Having spells prepared beforehand is one thing, having them do OPthings is another.

summons usually can move at same turn. It would be propably good if "stored" spells got some upkeep to store them

If a spell is waiting and ready, you cant recast it. If your strategy is to field lots of summon units, you cant do so, if you are keeping them in a "ready" state. Sure, you might be able to make surprise moves on your enemy(AI or player), but you are probably not being optimal in terms of pacing and casting efficiency. In MP, everybody is able to do it. If they summon a bunch of units and moves, you can summon a bunch right back. Or you might outpace them in a different area. If it turns out to be "too good", they could always introduce an upkeep cost for spells that stays in a "ready state" at end of turn(like 10 or 20% of the mana cost). That would limit how many different summons you would be able to keep "ready".

You can't take cities with guerilla summons, so the degree of shenanigans isn't THAT high.

@@st8113 yep, Im glad they finally fixed this abuse when single crow could take and burn city.... siege is great mechanic imho. Actually most things I suggested in early stages of aow3 were fixed here, Triumph once again proved they really listen the community

@@st8113 True, but I think it'll be hilarious to see a mix of Nature - Chaos Builds sending a single army per city that you are defending, pick one and unleash like 2-3 extra armies between all the things they can do.
