The Sikh Empire is a challenging start in Victoria 3, surrounded by enemies, with a faltering economy, and a political leaning that one might call "somewhat traditionalist". While some of our wounds are self-inflicted, and many of our enemies are admittedly weak, the one to our East has a terrifying overlord, and the strength to crush us in one fell swoop. In this Victoria 3 let's play, we will take charge as the Sikh Empire, pushing the East India Company out of the Indian Subcontinent, and then creating the Empire under the Pun through the subjugation of Great Britain.

Yeah your correct, i just watched someone playing Persia and it's like "ok i get this is the gameplay but you can just edit it out and come back when something cool or funny happens". Otherwise it's 30 minutes of him going "wow we need an x factory "

As a note . Luxury goods don't cause high radicalism. It's the basic once only + Your 2million coming from the conquest.( When u conquer most people of the conquered country become radical for a while).

WOOH PartyElite is doing a Sikh run, I've been slowly grinding out as well and I love the format for this. Fun little bit, you don't need Iron for tools you can make it all from wood to help get things kickstarted before you start getting into the Iron man, tools loop. Also what are your thoughts on automating the processes in industries in India on this run? Wouldn't it hurt the SoL from putting people out of work?

Serfdom provides a bonus production (just grain, IIRC) to your subsistence farms, that's why you experienced a decline in your budget surplus in.

About the change to higher level of construction never do it again. Stay in the low tier more time but much less expensive. Since changing it will cause higher cost in multiple good wood tools iron ( and each of them must be payed by the government). Stay on the wood / fabric until u have extra iron and tools and fabric and wood( this will make it get a bit more expensive but affordable since u produce everything)

Hey, I see you have a consumption tax on grain. You wont want to do that. You want to have consumption taxes on products that are used by the rich such as luxury furniture, services etc. Wheat will make the food more expensive for everyone which will mean your people may starve, and they will spend less money in the economy. This will increase the number of radicals as well. As less money flows into the economy, it will create a loop of buildings haveing less product to sell. In general you dont want to focus taxes on staple goods. Its better to put them on luxuries. Its also better to tax the rich as it will only affect them and the main economy can still grow even if they are buying less of a luxury. The rich though have a lot more political power especially at the start of the game. You also need them to help fun buildings with their investment pool but as long as you can see their Standard of Living isnt suffering too much, you should be fine.

The grain tax is only temporary to sustain us until we can get better taxation going - the consumption tax on luxuries just wasn't enough for the time being, especially during wartime, but as we switch over to per capita tax down the line and gain more territory, we'll definitely get rid of the grain tax asap. The radicals from that certainly start to add up, yeah.

You might be interested to know that the "Panjab" name comes from Persian. "Panj" is Farsi for "five", while "ab" actually means "water", though not necessarily "river". I think that I read somewhere that that's why so many Indian and Iranian cities and towns have "-abad" in their names; that suffix roughly translates to "place where there is water".

4:13 that’s weird I’m a Sikh and even before the Sikh empire when they were just independent misls/kingdoms, it was the more inclusive empire at the time and meets at todays standards, we had many woman leaders of even whole misls being on the battle field and everything we had a lot of Europeans too especially the the military as maharaja Ranjit Singh purposely hired Europeans to modernize his army
