Hi you just thought me a nice strum thanks. I was looking for other posting of this song on youtube and saw yours I video open mics and post them so people can enjoy local musicians playing covers or originals and a few days ago I posted this same song on youtube and the publishing company NPG claimed a copy right infringement and deleted the video. I don't understand why can't cover be played and how come they left your video alone and gave me a ding on my standing. Is there a list of songs not to be played on youtube somewhere so I don't step on any ones toes since I am not making any money out of it and don't want to be sued thank you in advance for you reply Love n Peace

+localguy8 I'm not sure I'm afraid, I always put (cover) on the title of my vids. I have also been told that the owner/management company have a say in what stays and what goes, to their liking. I have never heard from anyone on my version so I guess I'm ok to continue. Try re-naming it and adding cover in the title. I'm sorry I couldn't help more, good luck

I guess my buddies are that good or bad singing and playing it that they chose to take it down it's unbelievable, I could understand if I video his concert or something even Prince covers other musicians music. +localguy +PartyMarty - Marty's vids are instructional/educational and he doesn't cover the whole song for entertainment or possible monetization. An open mic is making someone money for sure (the venue, the guy who sold coffee and beer at the gig, etc - its a public performance that needs to pay licensing fees (publishing or performance). Then, you post same (entire) thing on KZbin, more possible infringement. Prince's mgt company has been particularly aggressive on this, especially over last couple of years, ending most (not all) streaming (even on paid services), and eradicating most KZbin videos. As Marty said, they seem to have their own rules of review. Only reason I know so much (realise this is a few months old now), is I was looking at similar performance and posting, and when that came up someone in the band pointed out a couple articles from last few days about his strict re-use policies (sorry can't remember the one that dove into the performance). My guess is most of Marty's stuff will be cool for most record companies, as the more people that learn (any) songs, the more license fees are coming their way in one form or another, PLUS it is educational. From wikipedia: The use of a copyrighted work "for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright."

+David King That's a tough one, I use a slap strum on the snare beat of the song, with a wierd pattern that is hard to tab out, you don't have to strum it the way I do it, make it your own and start out with a basic strum until you get comfortable with the tune. Good luck with it
