VTR250 Marysville to Healesville ride - Part 2

Riding from Marysville to Healesville on my brand new (third hand) VTR250. Still getting the hang of counter steering and proper throttle control.
Hoping to get a better camera position for next time - did not realize that most of the frame will be filled with the fuel tank.

No probs mate :) How do you find the VTR at highway speeds? I live in a rural area too, so most of my riding will probably be on open roads. Lots of people say a 250cc runs out of steam too quickly.

+PIK Those people are right - VTR250 is best around the town - under 80 is where it really shines. Long cruises or overtaking ability around 100 is no great. Actually upgraded to cb400 and that's great for all speeds. VTR is a great learner bike - much less room for screw ups especially early on and great for peak hour traffic and it's light and agile and only sips around 3.8l/100 km of fuel

+pas0003 Thanks for the info man. I've been meaning to get my licence for a long time now. I always like the CB400 and was convinced that would be my first. Now I've started looking, though, I see that they're very expensive for a 400cc. Even the older models hold their price well. I suppose VTEC on the more recent models helps to keep the price up there too.

+PIK cb400 are not cheap! But then the vtr250 isn't too cheap either. Paid for my vtr 4500 when I bought it and bought the cv for 6200. so it's more but not that much more. Have you considered cb500 or cbr500r? I wasn't a massive fan but lots of people love them. The new model is coming up so you'd be bound to save some cash on the old Gen I'm sure

It's a great bike~! Moved on from VTR and got an xsr900, however the insurance, etc costs make me want to go back haha! Enjoy the fun, little gem and the low costs associated with it!
