He's was obviously the best player in the game and he was because the Warriors didn't respect him enough to plan ahead for him... I'm sure Raps will have different guys each game step up for Kawhi (if he's trapped/doubled too often) Lowry, Gasol, Dan Green, Siakam are showing that they are capable of helping so they can't be ignored. Kerr was right when he said GSW's transition defense wasn't there and Raps took advantage of it using their speed, length & their home crowd

Even before the series started, I knew Siakim would be the "key" to this series. Siakim's game was diminished by superior interior defenders like Embidd, Giannis/Lopez combo. After Siakim's monster Game 1 against the Philly, they put Embidd on Siakim to stop him. Now the Warriors have much smaller paint defenders, so Siakim was able to take advantage of the mis-match and undersized defenders. Then Gasol stood up big time.. Green knocked down 3 three's.. and VanVleet hit that crazy three down the stretch. A total team effort.

He had some luck rolls with those running hook shots, unless he's practicing and developing that as a core shot for him. So he probably won't, but more than likely he won't have to. The raptors play a less rapid version of gsw offense, with locked down one on one defense that can easily play connected/team defense. Also they have 5/6 guys that can go on quick spurts like the ole gsw teams(siakam, kawhi, fvv, gasol, lowry, and at times Danny has done that. Oh, and OG shown that before too, so long as he doesn't ruin the flow when he returns).

Nick is incorrect about the coverage on Paskel. For the most part in the bucks series, Brook Lopez covered him and in the 76ers series it was joel embid who covered him for the most part. I could see them switching Jordan bell, kevon looney or buggie on to him, forcing him to shoot. hopefully, dramond takes it personally and refuses to switch off of him.

I never understand why people talk about slowing down or speeding up the game. The speed I attack has almost no bearing on the speed the opposing team chooses to attack, apart from the fact fast breaks might create a few more turnovers. Both the dubs and raptors are versatile, they look for a fast break when the opportunity is there, and are happy to play in half court when it's not. They don't try to force the "pace" one way or another. Seems like all teams that can should play that way, and not worry about the other team's pace... am I missing something?
@Samcirca5 жыл бұрын
Toronto better not expect Siakam to do that again. They have the versatility to play to a different plan in game 2.
