Hi Sarah, good morning! I just would like to thank you for sharing all your knowledge in nursing. I'm so grateful to you, because you helped me a lot in passing the NCLEX thru all your good, very informative and easy to understand lecture videos. I watched almost all your lectures in youtube and answered every quiz in your website. I watched your videos daily, 3-5 clips a day and it became a part of review routine for 3 months preparation since January. All your lectures did help me a lot to understand and remember all the things that must learn for the NCLEX. Thru watching your videos, my self confidence in taking the exam doubled. Last Friday April 21, I took the exam and finished at 75 questions and just now got the result thru quick result that I passed. I don't know how to express my gratitude to you, but to say thank you. I'll make sure that all my friends and co workers will subscribe to your channel. Sarah, wishing you all the best, may the Lord continually bless you and your family. ~ Mark

I have been an LPN for 4 years. I took the NCLEX PN in June of 2013. I studied by doing questions after questions. I recently just graduated to become an RN and I take my NCLEX RN in about two weeks! My question is to those fellow LPNs turned RNs, did you feel like the NCLEX RN was "easier" to you after being experienced nurse already and had taken the NCLEX style test before?
@RegisteredNurseRN7 жыл бұрын
Hello Christy :) I've pinned your question to the top so hopefully some LPNs will be able to answer your question. Best wishes when you take NCLEX-RN!

Thanks for watching the video :) I personally would say the thing that helped me the most was to practice as many NCLEX style questions I could get my hands on. I concentrated on medical surgical and other areas that were hard for me. I wish you the best on it :)

Hello ,Sarah. Thank you very much for your videos, I watch them a lot, even I am just going to start my nursing classes this fall, all that you explain is interesting for me, and helps to prepare for the school. Sarah, can you give an advise regard studying E- books for nursing classes. I have never studied from E-books, and I like usual paper books.
@RegisteredNurseRN8 жыл бұрын
Hi Tanya :) Thank you so much for watching my videos! I appreciate it greatly! It is so exciting you will be starting nursing classes this fall! When buying books for nursing school, I always went with the hard copy of the book rather than the e-book version because I didn't want to save in on my computer (in case it crashes) or have to remember passwords to access the book etc. Plus, I always resold my textbooks to make some money back (those books aren't cheap), and I would like having a physical copy so I can flip the pages and look through it (I find it hard to navigate books online books). So, I would look at your preferences and decide from there. I hope my advice provides some insight :) Best wishes!
@18081Tatiana8 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Sarah, for the advice and kind words:) Unfortunately, for some reason, (maybe because it is cheaper) in my school, we won't able to use a hard copy of books, they have started for a few years using of e-books.
@RegisteredNurseRN8 жыл бұрын
Very interesting! I agree with you, and I bet it is because it is cheaper....I guess I'm old-fashioned and like hard copies. Thanks for letting me know about this :)

My first year in nursing school, one of my friends who was ahead of me in nursing school recommended using OneNote that comes with Microsoft for note taking. I wish I had listened a little more closely now that I'm prepping for NCLEX, because OneNote has a search function that makes it easy to find information on a specific med or disease or whatever, depending on your notes. It also has a record function so if you take your laptop or phone to class you could record the lecture. ;) I had to use eBooks also, and I HATE THEM! In fact, I wish I hadn't bought the package the school required and instead rented from chegg or searched my local Half Priced books for the hard copies of the books I used most which were my medical-surgical text, Saunders and the green HESI-NCLEX RN review book (same one on Sarah's page). Other essentials were the maternity, pediatric and Vacarolis for psych. I also bought my medical surgical book's adaptive quizzing app from Evolve, and a study guide I found at Half Price Books (the Iggy one). The study guide has great questions, but no rationales. I now purchased a subscription to UWorld and love it. But one of the main things that several people have recommended is doing loads of practice questions and paying attention to the rationales. Oh, as an added note, the green review book also has practice questions if you purchase the book new or a used copy from someone who hasn't redeemed the code for it. Best of luck in nursing school!

@slimsbeautychannel8 жыл бұрын
hi, I am taking my exit hesi. I am wondering did you read and write smalls notes.. I find myself doing that and it's taking me so long, taking time away from actually practicing questions. do you think I should just read and do practice questions?
@RegisteredNurseRN8 жыл бұрын
Hello :) I would read sections in the exit HESI guide (the book HESI sells), and I would pay close attention to the "HESI Hints" and the end of the section questions. Then for extra practice for the section I was covering I would use the Saunders Comprehensive Review Guide software and practice as many questions as I could in that particular section. I did not take take notes because, as you pointed out, I felt it was wasting a lot of time. Practicing questions really are what helps, but after you complete a set of questions be sure to read the rationales of why you got each answer right and wrong. Then for the questions you got wrong go back in the book and review it. I hope that helps. Best wishes on your exit HESI (although I hated taking it...the exam really helps prepare you for NCLEX). I hope you have a great Christmas :)

Thank you so much for replying. So I plan to take my boards next month. Do you think I should do a system plus the meds each day? I also have the Saunders book and I'm using the nclex mastery app which both helped me a great deal in nursing school. I finished on Tuesday and I wanna start studying now while everything is basically fresh in my mind lol
@RegisteredNurseRN8 жыл бұрын
Kimmie Cakes Yes, definitely practice a system (especially the systems and areas you are rusty on) and pay attention to medications that are prescribed for certain diseases (along with patient education and side effects). Just keep answering questions and reading the material in the book that correlates with the questions you practiced....also read the rationales of each question as well. I wish you the best when you take NCLEX :)
