Personally, the 2016 reimagining was one of the Disney live-action/CGI remakes that I respected more. I appreciate that it at least tried to stand on its own and do something completely different with the basic premise, like comparing “Mary Poppins“ or “Bedknobs and Broomsticks“ versus a more Spielbergian film like E.T. I’d rather have that, than a remake which just parasitizes the original, refuses to separate itself from it, and imitates everything that was done before in a weak attempt to “replace” it. *cough* Lion King *cough*

I was privileged to see Jim Dale star in his 1980 Tony Award winning role as "Barnum!" on Broadway. This fantastic entertainer sang a song while walking a tightrope 15 feet in the air across the stage, even dipping to one knee along the way! (Michael Crawford did the same thing in the London production, which is available in its entirety on KZbin.) Before Doc Terminus, Jim was a successful British rock and roll singer in the 1950s and a cast member of the wonderful series of Carry On movies in the 1960s.
