It cannot be said another way. He deserves so much more attentention , and more people i general, which is possilbly more important, deserve to listen to this man. The music is of course , not trivial, but pop and at times alomost too predicable. His lyrics. Is so touching , and feels like a friend , with a No bullsh** approach to life. It feals real. And sounds like honesty. I love it. I am not interrested in beeing right or wrong. I just feel this . The same way i feel Edgar Allan poe , van gogh, hemingway and numerous others that have or had the abillity to say something difficult in a simple way. Thats what make the difference between an artist and a performer. In my subjective opinion

I found it really wierd that only "let her go" is on the radio station when he has so much great songs such as this one... i really think that he should get much more recognition. I love his work with the lyrics and everything fit perfectly. MUCH LOVE !

This is such a perfect lyrical song about love.
@jeremywatson335411 жыл бұрын
I'm fairly certain it's not a love song at all. He doesn't want to be with the girl, but he doesn't want to be alone so he forces himself to stay with her. And "The first cut is the deepest but the rest still flipping hurt." is either deeply metaphorical or, my thought, a clear reference to self harm(in lay mans terms, cutting.)

Jeremy Watson boooring :P (just kidding)
@kayleighellis467711 жыл бұрын
Jeremy Watson It's not about cutting. What he means is the the first time you get hurt is the worst but it still hurts every time. The song is about love, just not a typical love song :)

He deserves the publicity and success he's got now.Very delicate the way he describes the difficulty and ephemerality of human relations..admitting his own mistakes.. "I've got the wrong direction" Superb use of the English language in all of his songs. Remind me of the French chansonniers: Charles Trenet, Guy Beart, and many ,many more.

When I was a kid, the things I did, were hidden under the grid Young and naive, I never believed that love could be so well hid With regret, I'm willing to bet, you say the older you get It gets harder to forgive and harder to forget It gets under your shirt like a dagger or work The first cut is the deepest, but the rest will flippin' hurt You build your heart of plastic, get cynical and sarcastic And end up in the corner on your own 'Cause I love to feel love but can't stand the rejection I hide behind my jokes as a form of protection I thought I was close, but under further inspection It seems I've been running in the wrong direction Oh, no So what's the point in getting your hopes up When all you're ever getting is choked up When you're coked up, And can't remember the reason why you broke up You call her in the morning When you're coming down and falling Like an old man on the side of the road 'Cause when you're apart you don't want to mingle When you're together you want to be single Ever the chase to taste the kiss of bliss That made your heart tingle How much greener the grass is With those rose tinted glasses But the butterflies, they flutter by And leave us on our asses 'Cause I love to feel love but I can't stand the rejection I hide behind my jokes as a form of protection I thought I was close, but under further inspection It seems I've been running in the wrong direction There's fish in the sea for me to make a selection I'd jump in if it wasn't for my ear infection 'Cause all I want to do is try to make a connection But it seems I've been running in the wrong direction Oh, oh Oh, oh I love to feel love but I can't stand the rejection I hide behind my jokes as a form of protection I thought I was close, but under further inspection It seems I've been running in the wrong direction I love to feel love but I can't stand the rejection I hide behind my jokes as a form of protection And I thought I was close, but under further inspection It seems I've been running in the wrong direction Oh, oh Seems like I'm running in the wrong direction Oh, oh Seems like I'm running in the wrong direction Oh Well it seems I've been running in the wrong direction Oh, no Seems like I've been running in the wrong direction Oh

I think that instead of saying 'I'd jump in if it wasn't for my ear infection' it would sound a lot better if he said 'I'd jump in if it wasn't for my eerie reflection' I really think it would tie the song together quite nicely!

Can't stand rejection? Hey if they reject you... She's not for you my buddy... Sometimes tough if you really love her but all you can do is tell her... Forcing her would take her freedom of choice away obviously so... Let her know how you feel then take a stand with yourself and move on... This philosophy is golden and can help your fans too...
