As a Rovers fan, we knew we'd not hold on to him for long. But, what a perfect move for him. if he'd joined a top six club, He'd have been loaned around, sat on benches and never played. Fair play to Palace for getting him straight into the team (what a day later?). He hasn't looked back since. We knew he'd play for England - none of us thought this quick though! Has any other player been a part of a senior squad for competition after 16 Pl games? Someone let me know, as I think that's highly unlikely.

Basically 20 minutes of Wharton doing the job of both Trent and Rice combined. Put him in and watch England's performances vastly improve. Doesn't waste passes, every pass he plays forward causes problems for defence, receives the ball on the half turn, receives with his back to play and turns and plays it forward, reads the game, positioning, timing. He's got it all. And he's likely not gonna get a minute at this Euros. Infuriating as it shows how clueless Southgate actually is. We can talk about get Gordon or Cole Palmer in. Wharton is key for everything else to build off. Without someone like him the rest will remain the same regardless of who he brings in. And I'm a Leeds fan before any "bias" comments come in. I think Wharton is that guy!!

We are going to look back in a year's time on Euro 2024 and think how did Adam not get into that number 6 role. Especially with how Southgate likes to set up. The lad dictates the game, he breaks up play, he distributes the ball short and long his vision is impeccable. The most impressive thing is that he does is with such confidence and ease. Thought he was fantastic for Blackburn, he's doing even better at Palace, he's destined to go to the very top of the game. I just wish Southgate would give him his shot. Huge fan.

He hasn't even broken sweat yet. Given the right guidance by the right manager, Adam could be the best English midfield player of his generation. There are very few managers around with the expertise to nurture this talent. I hope he doesn't end up like Dele, or Wilshire, or Barkley, or Maddison, or any of the other prospects that failed to reach their full potential.
