cannot understand the negative comments here. if you teach at this level, you know that footwork is EVERYTHING. (+ form + technique.) this is a amazing drill. well done coach!!

I think people who doesn't know real volleyball shouldn't comment. This is a great drill!

Great footwork video. I haven't played vball in a long time, waaaaaay before rally scoring! I still love to watch the game and since the Olympics are going on, I thought I would watch some videos. I wish we used drills like this, footwork/positional work is vitally important. It strengthens the legs, increases reaction time, gets you light on your feet, trains the fast twitch muscles of your body and hopefully keeps you injury free. Sure beats doings boring laps!

This is just superb, I've been looking for "coaching high school volleyball drills" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Renndrew Volleyball Victimless - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my partner got great success with it.

This is glorious, I have been researching "japanese volleyball drills" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Renndrew Volleyball Victimless - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my cousin got great results with it.

This is absolutely brilliant. I tried this with my athletes, and even though it was a bit challenging at first, they got the hang of it. Using this drill helps with body form and coordination. I thinks it's fantastic. Nice job!!

This is an excellent example of fundimentals. Even for High School Level Volley. Well executed!

While the coordination is simple, the concept of moving as a single unit pays tribute to reaction time and makes them expect to pay attention. What you hear is not joyless robots, but focused girls wanting to do as well as their next person. It is a very good method for learning and retention as we call it in motion science.

I'm confused what does she mean by point your hip to the target?
@CeeDoubleyou24610 жыл бұрын
The direction in which the ball is flying functions as a plummet on the axis between your hips (if you would connect each hip with a line). Therefore, each hip has the same distance to the ball. Same with the shoulders. In short: the player faces or adjusts to the ball.

56zwazify This isn't my video or drill but I believe they're doing it just communicating what they're seeing. In sports some players will always see what's happening before others and if they verbalize what they see it helps everyone.

have you ever played volleyball. this is a drill i have had to do at many camps

I agree with you, but what if they're learners?, I think is good exercise to get use to the position that they should take at the moment of receiving the ball, when they get use to that position they should do it with a ball. Also the trainer should worry about their backs position, too bend. Sorry for my bad english :).

Except this isn't the sport, it's training drills.

I don't really understand why "Mine" is called after they get to their spot. Functionally, "Mine" needs to be called out prior to the movement. I run the star drill as a warm up drill, (I call it the clock drill) and have them call "mine" prior to each movement, which is how it should happen in an actual game.

We don't do any of this but, we nrleed to!
@chazatlanta434011 жыл бұрын
Good except for the players are two bent over and forward. In that position they will need to raise their body as they pass which is the "old' way of passing. Passing is done with the arms and the shoulders, not the legs. The legs are there to move the player around and get in position. Posture should be slightly more uprigh, back straighter, and less hunched positioned in a relaxed balanced ready stance. Still a good drill and video though.

Looks more like warm-up and footwork/posture drill than a passing drill.

those girls were modled into the type of player that the coach wants. they all sound the same, step with the same leg, everything. like cookie cut outs. it can be bad. it can be good.
@dsouthwell200711 жыл бұрын
It's called fundamentals-- drills are a part of development. Robots, really? All these girls will probably receive a free college education.If you've never played competitive sports, you probably shouldn't comment. Playing volleyball on the Wii doesn't count.

Why would you want feet in? Every professional player I watch, libero or outside hitter, all have their feet facing outside. They look so funny with their feet in lol. Like a hurt or shy Bambi.

There are better drills for teaching the skill faster than this will accomplish.
@thehumble111 жыл бұрын
this seems like old-school training that takes too long to get results and does a good job of reaching mediocrity but not excellence. backs bent, no balls in play, nothing transferable since it's not building in-game muscle memory. they should be in pairs moving in response to ball action. fine for 5 year olds but not HS level.
