Hercules Universal DJ Review: multi-function DJ Controller for Beginners

The Universal DJ is a great entry-level DJ controller from Hercules, a company which specializes in the beginner DJ segment. It's advertised as "One Controller, Three Modes!" and is compatible with PC/Mac, Android, and iOS devices. It can even work via Bluetooth.
You can mix via Computer, Smartphone, Tablet in three different software modes using the included DJUCED software. The three modes supported by the controller are:
MODE 1 (Laptop Mode): Connect the controller to your laptop, for a tactile interface to control your DJ software.
MODE 2 (Multiscreen Mode): Use your mobile device as an extension of the DJ setup, wirelessly via Bluetooth.
MODE 3 (Tablet Mode): Operate a mobile device's DJ software, wirelessly via Bluetooth.
The controller is well-built and rigid, and scores well in practicality for its size and shape.
The Universal DJ is geared towards beginner DJs. In fact, the software holds your hand through not only using the included DJUCED software, but actually helps you learn how to DJ in general.
While it does have some great features, I did encounter a few issues when using them... and I cover all that in this video. While my time with the device was generally enjoyable, I do have to wonder about using Bluetooth in the DJ booth.

I’m a professional dj but I’m still using Hercules dj controller and it’s my favourite software and it supports virtual dj bro and I’m using the Hercules air s series and I know it’s beginner stuff but if u learn everything that controller is not a beginner thing.. I’m using it and I use it even for big festivals and it’s even better

You need to connect your tablet to the aux in for sound to stop coming through your tablet speakers

Hi, great review. I apologize for possible mistakes, I am from Russia and I use a translator. I want to buy this controller and I am interested one important question. I plan to connect the controller by bluetooth to the ipad and ipad to the bluetooth speakers. Without using any wires at all. Will I get this scenario?

Only thing that I don't like is that there is no microphone connection port. I can't understand why they would not add the capability to plug in a microphone. What DJ doesn't use a microphone?

I have this controller and yes i have all the same problems. I also cant use the app on my stylo 6 it just crashes as soon as i open it.

In this room alone I have machines powered by Mac OS, Windows 10 and Linux. I have an IT background in Systems Administration and have been a multi-platform user since the 1990s. Or, maybe it's the thing you said.
