@@k0vae I think that, in the guitar, everything starts and ends with the pentatonic scale. Learn the minor pentatonic shapes, try to understand how it relates to de major pentatonic and then fill the missing notes. It's easy to move into minor and major diatonic scales after you REALLY learn your pentatonic. You can then learn modes, harmonic and melodic minor, hexatonic, etc. But pentatonic is always the first step. When it comes to Der... the hard thing to face is that he's not playing complex stuff, it's just that he's stupidly tasteful... and you can't study that.

@@k0vae Mostly minor pentatonic and minor lol Trust me, if you've only been playing for a year there's thousands of mind melting licks and phrases you haven't found yet in the good ol' pentatonic, you don't need bebop scales. Grab your guitar and try to play some of the easier lines he plays, you'll see it isn't that "hard" when it comes to theory. It's just that the dude has a feeling that I would stab someone for.

This is it man. I've been playing guitar for 13 years and i see allot of videos from people playing very difficult technical stuff. But almost all of them are missing what this guy has in abundance. Soul and class. What he plays isn't necessarily very hard, but it's HOW he plays it. You can't teach that. I'll take this any day of the week over someone playing a hard classical song double tempo on 2 guitars like a robot.
