If you're a US citizen, you need to be fully informed that if you create NFTs that pay out, it is subject to securities laws. If you are going to make this a business model, you should at the very least read the laws, but to be safe, get a lawyer. It's nothing to be afraid of, just do your due diligence.

@@Jeremiah.Awesome Laws are jurisdictional. NFT's are global, permissionless and billions of assets can be created by anyone, anywhere, anytime in 5 minutes for a few dollars. SEC securities laws were created 100 years ago. There is no way these two can be reconciled in their current form. Even the SEC gets that. That's why they are at their wits end. The max they can do is outlaw on paper what Americans are banned from doing. It doesn't ban NFT's. It bans Americans from NFT's on paper.

At 7:02 you mentioned that a person would need to take the earned money and deposit it onto the block chain and distribute the funds manually. Wouldn't it be easier to automate the process by using a smart contract connected to an oracle to distribute the proceeds? If the NFTs were done on Cardano that would also take care of the high transaction fees.

This really highlights the issue I have with NFTs: most of their value is tied to the third party platform selling the NFTs (like Open Sea). Who is Open Sea? How do I know they’ll be around in ten years? BUT on the other hand Veve has a relationship with Disney IP and that’s a whole different ballgame that has peaked my interest. Also, the whole Metacerse thing is likely going to take NFTs to the next level.

The concept of NFTs being used to distinguish different types of assets seems promising. Adding some passive roi is awesome too. But I still don't get the hype around the current and most common use case - art. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the majority of the income you'd make from NFTs currently would just be the result of arbitrary market demand. You could get rich quick if you're lucky but it's really no different from trading Pokémon cards, shoes, toys, etc. Contrasting that with the fungible stuff like crypto or stocks, you're investing in the underlying technology of a currency or the initiative of a company. Unless the NFT you're putting down for has some passive income like explained in the video, or the NFT represents stake in a company with some aggregable initiative, you're gambling on market interest alone which seems a bit odd and hitting it big would be pretty rare.

That's basically how DAO's are being formed within the NFT communties. By holding a NFT that belongs to the collection, members are elligible to vote what's happening with say the treasury funds. Most NFT's are useless when only for art display (sentimental value) but other projects have real benefits when holding.

I had the same idea for my granola biz. NFT’s which allow you to invest in a flavor. Token holders would receive royalties depending on the success of the flavor! I’m doing something similar on the Algorand blockchain which eliminates the gas fee issue
