Thanks Adrian for sharing the structure of your portfolio template and your long term strategy! I totally borrowed your template 😄, and added NAV, Market CAP and Ex-Dividend date. Now, my favor activity over the week-end is to count my dividends and update my portfolio template. Now, making money in the stock market is easy thanks to you! 🙏

Really useful video. I use Google Sheets (which is really similar to Excel) instead and I even use formulas that can auto update the stock price and NAV without having to manually update it all the time. There's a way to do that for the NAV price too.

Your strategy is truly impressive and should be taught in school. I’m curious regarding income taxes on a portfolio that generates that much passive income. I’m getting to a point where I may need to turn of a few drips since I’m going to get to a point where I can’t afford the income tax owing since most is in a non reg account (tfsa maxed)? How do you afford the taxes on your crazy income. Well done!

Hi there, I’m a 28 y/o male who recently started investing in ETFs. I really like HDIV, HYLD, Canoe EIT, ZWB, ZWU, FIE. I just have a general question (as there is one looming around the corner) and that would be how do these do during bad market times? Ie: how does the dividend get paid? I am holding a certain amount of capital to DCA on these ETFs when that time comes, I just thought I’d ask if it’s something I should continue worrying about. Thank you so much for your time!

the market is 6+months ahead ... the recession is already here and i think it was already priced in. in short, its all speculation. long term mindset fixes all.

@@PassiveIncomeInvesting Thank you very much for getting back to my questions it means a lot! Whilst HYLD HDIF etc being a hedge against a recession however, the stock price obviously dips harder since its leveraged correct? But since we think long term once the market moves to the upside it becomes extremely beneficial if we had been buying the dip, i assume i would be correct in saying this as its pretty basic though. Thanks again :D

Good stuff. I started using Google Sheets over Excel to track my stuff while I still update the charts on both I like my set up better on Sheets. I think you can do some of the things I do on Sheets in Excel but I like being able to have real time price update when I open the document as well as it pulls the dividend as it may get adjusted at some point in the year instead of having to type both in. To me it is very important to have spreadsheets when investing and over time you can really create some good ones for your needs either through trying different things or researching and watching videos seeing what others are doing.

Hello Adriano.. maybe is a silly question but I am struggling a bit to understand how did you get the annual dividend numbers for each security. Do you sum the total by yourself checking the distribution of the last 12 month or you find those number in the website of the fund manager ? Could you please enlighten me how do you get this , it will be very much appreciated 😊

Hey Adrian, thanks for the awesome video! I just had a few questions: - Is the book price the average cost of a stock/etf across multiple buys? - For the dividend misses, is that manually written down or is there some sort of data pulled from somewhere? Do you just use a tool like Yahoo Finance or TD Market Research to see what dates they missed and write those down? Thanks!
@PassiveIncomeInvesting
@PassiveIncomeInvesting Жыл бұрын
yes that's the book price. its basically my acb. dividend misses are manually recorded and are only for certain split funds

I was wondering - when you convert your RRSP into RIF, would you transfer the shares out "in kind", or would you just withdraw the income - I'm kind of wondering about what the rules are because I know that you have to withdraw everything by a certain date (when you're 70 I think) and you have to withdraw a certain percentage every year I believe.
@PassiveIncomeInvesting
@PassiveIncomeInvesting Жыл бұрын
good question, i actually have not even thought about "withdrawing" in kind instead of cash. I assume its the same thing (takes at marginal tax rate) or at a universal rate of 25% for non residents (potentially less if the country you move to has a tax treaty with Canada). i would probably do cash, ill be old and want to spend my money! :)
@ronbilton6240
@ronbilton6240 Жыл бұрын
There is no official requirement to Withdraw everything, but instead the requirement is to roll-over the RRSP contents into a RIF account... and then the prescribed minimum % withdrawal rate kicks-in the year you turn 71., OR if you prefer you could cash it all in, avoid the conversion to a RIF by 71, and be hit with a probable high tax cost on the overall RRSP cash-out procedure.

For tax offset information, I think we only can buy RRSP based on our previous year 18% of working income, not the investment income. Please clarify this information. Thank you
@ggpp6252
@ggpp6252 Жыл бұрын
I think RRSP's can be bought from 18% of your last year's income or any unused portion of the RRSP. It is clearly stated on your CRA's Notice of Assessment on the last page where it states the RRSP deduction limit.

Can you still contribute to your TFSA? When a Canadian taxpaying resident becomes a non-resident by moving to another country, any contribution made by the taxpayer as a non-resident will be subject to a 1% per month tax on these contributions.
@PassiveIncomeInvesting
@PassiveIncomeInvesting Жыл бұрын
once you become non resident you can no longer contribute to your TFSA. the income continues to be tax free however. but if you move to a country that has a universal tax system like the U.S. you will have to declare and pay taxes on the income generated by your TFSA.
