Used more than any other ascent in the history of Italy's biggest stage race, the Giro d'Italia, the Passo Pordoi is certainly a contender for the GCN Epic Climbs. Dan and Matt tackle the pass with no less than 33 hairpin bends, reaching the top just in time...

The Passo Pordoi in the Alta Badia region of the Italian Dolomites is one of the best known in the area. Frequently featuring as the Cima Coppi, or the highest point on the Giro d'Italia race, it's a climb that takes you up to 2239 metres, with 6.9km to cover from Arabba.
Join Dan Lloyd and Matt Stephens as they ride up this beast of a climb, finishing with Coppi's memorial at the top. Time for a cappuccino, anyone?

I was discussing a cycling holiday with my wife and when I told her about this video I don't think she believed me about the names of some of the towns. "Precumon, my arse!" were her exact words. Anyway, it turns out the bloke next door must be a cycling fan, because I heard her saying something similar to him later...

Have you ever considered to tackle the ascent to the "cippo"? It is a route that goes up to the Carpegna Mountain in in Italy, in the province of Pesaro-Urbino. It was the favorite training climb of Marco Pantani, it's a brutal climb. I would love to see it in one of your videos

On to every climb a little rain should fall, just to make sure it is epic, and I liked your selfie at the end, nice pic. And maybe your crafty excuse for a craft beer.

I'm so lucky. I once lived in a place where I had a ride very much like this one. And in the 2 years I rode it every day, I only saw a dozen cars at the most. Sometimes life deals good cards.

As someone who lives in the Dolomites the altitude has never been a factor for me on these kind of climbs. Pordoi is such an awesome climb, one of the best ones in the Dolomites, but many of them are stunning, Valparola (no too hard bust just stunning), Fedaia and Tre Cime jus to mention a few of my favourite ones are all awesome.

Hi, I did Passo Pordoi this summer but I started from Moena to Canazei and after climbed to Pordoi. I did also Passo Sella, starting from Moena through Canazei. The two climbs are very nice. On Wednesday the street is close for the cars and there are a lot of cyclists Ciao!!

2:28 The story behind that rock is quite an interesting one. Apparently God and a young Matthew Stephens were playing 'rock-paper-scissors'. The results are still unknown. But all we know is that the rock is still there and people are still looking for God.

When going in for a coffee, or to eat something, on places like this - can you (do you dare too) leave the bike outside unlocked? Thats always the problem with going into shops/cafés and so on when out on a bikeride...one doesn´t want to have a big & heavy lock on the bike..

Hi, I would like to learn the cycling sport, and I'm watching so many of your videos to know new skills and advice. I wanted to ask you when I run a sprint I need to increase gears or lower them to get more speed in the pedals.
@artusjaladeau3366
@artusjaladeau3366 7 жыл бұрын
Mattiaxspia it dépends of velocity ! U need first to train on riding a lot of km and after you can begin to work on specific things. but when sprinting, if you are not powerful you should decrease. You can feel when you sprint if you can push more on pedals
@matttt247
@matttt247 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the fast answer! I already do a lot of km and i want to work on specific things like the sprint runs. When i was training i try to use 4° Gear and when the speed of that gear was max, i change it to 5, to increase the power/speed ( and then 6,7,8..) , but i see in those videos that the sprints are only in 1 gear. You can explain this ?
@artusjaladeau3366
@artusjaladeau3366 7 жыл бұрын
Mattiaxspia i cant sorry ^^. To work on specific, it's good if you have a home trainer and cadence meter and heart pulse. You can find on internet a lot exercice to work on what you want.
