Such a busy day with so much going on! So glad I could take y'all along :) I'm greatly enjoying the break this week with my family in town :) If you are celebrating Passover this week, what have you done for Chol Hamoed?

I enjoyed this video. I can see that I wasn't the only one stressing out with the whole Shabbat with jametz and Pesaj right after. I too like to use real dishes for Shabbat but using the disposable really helped with cleanup afterwards. I am enjoying the chol hamoed by making things I have not done before, like kosher for passover banana and dates bread. Delicious!

Watching these videos give me more understanding of my grandmother. She was Jewish but married a Catholic. Neither one converted to the others religion. And I always thought she put to much work into her religion. I’m now 56 and I still do certain things she taught me, especially when it comes to food. I might not know the exact purpose.! I’m happy I found this channel.

I often forget that in some places you can just go to a mikvah or a kosher grocery store 🙈 We have to order our Pesach stuff online weeks in advance. There is a city about an hour and a half away where a couple of supermarkets have a few KlP things but not allowed to travel that far right now because of Covid. Turns out I temporarily lost the ability to count just before Pesach this year and ordered less than half the matzah our family needed for the week - d‘oh!

Oh man! I hope you were able to work it out with the matzah! I’m so sorry y’all still can’t drive so far :( That must be hard! We are very fortunate to have several communities in my general area, so even when it’s a bit of a drive, we do have what we need near enough.

My family and I are not Jewish, but a staple in our house is Matzah. We love to put butter and salt on it and eat it as a snack. I also saw a recipe that is brown sugar and butter together melted to make Carmel and chocolate melted on top of that.

Loving your channel so much! Question though do you have a video about selling your food and why you do this for Passover? I'm a Roman Catholic and remember some of the story of Passover from RE lessions in school but we didn't go into what the Jewish people need to do to prepare to celebrate it each year. Can't explain how much I'm learning and how much I've binged watched your channel over the last few weeks, find the way you explain things really easy to understand and that you're open to going into further explanation is so lovely. Thank you so much for watching my videos and for your kind words! I so appreciate you! I don’t have a video about selling the food, but in a nutshell we do this because we can’t own any chametz (basically bread, crackers, many cereals etc). So instead of throwing them away which would be wasteful, we sell it and buy it back after the holiday. There is an actual contract involved and we don’t even have to move it out of our house.

For me it’s good evening. I love learning about different cultures. I don’t know how I found you but am glad I did. You mentioned NOT changing your name on legal papers. I just had to I was born Frances Ann, never ever used it….unless my mother was mad at me when I little. Lol Since I got married 45 years ago, I signed all papers Fran, actully started Fran when I was about 5. My driver licence said Frances Ann, I never had a problem going by Fran until a few years ago. When we moved rom Pennsylvania to California 3 years ago I started having such problems with using Fran. The doctors office insisted on calling me Frances , ( in Pa. no problem) my health insurance started not paying bills since my insurance card said Fran. I hope this is not confusing, my Passport said Frances, I had to get a new one which was ready to expire anyway. The final part of a long story is I had to go to an attorney, fill out forms, he had to publish in our local paper 4 weeks to announce I was changing my name . No one even knew it as I have been Fran for years. The next step was going to court with our attorney, a judge looked at the papers, pretty much said nothing, asked me if I needed 6 official copies with the state stamp and signed by him. I then had to get a new drivers license ….YES , finally I am me !!! lol , new social security card, and get one checking and savings account changed. Funny thing is we have 3 accounts and only one said Frances. I am a retired nurse, I retired early on a medical, right now I do telephone nursing since covid D is coming around, I take the night shift 2 nights a week, it’s answering questions that come up on one screen with the answer , using a headset we talk to the caller. There is always an infectious disease doctor or Physicians Assistant available to us. I had to stop nursing as I was hit by a car in a huge blizzard of ‘95 in Pennsylvania. I almost lost my right leg, but thankfully I did not. ( 14 year olds should not be driving ) just a tidbit about my accident. I loved nursing, took me 7 years to get my masters , I kept having babies, had to take time off from school. Anyway, I love watching your stories. The TSA thing is what got me so interested in you( besides the zillion other things you do) I always get the extra pat down too. I have titanium I. My right leg , it should not set off alarms but sometimes it does. I like you , wear long dresses, I prefer them to pants where we live it is hot and I find midi dresses much cooler and yes, more modest. I usually wear a clip on type fall, the clips are metal and set of the alarm. I’ve been asked to remove my hair lol that sounds funny, the TSA oersons rubs their grubby hands in it.. my hair is long but fine. I’m sorry I’m rambling, you don’t. You are very precise. 💐💜 PS I am the mother of 2.boys (men) 41 and 39, a daughter in law also. We love her so much, we used to live in Pennsylvania, they live in New York, have not seen them in 2 years, thanks to covid. Hope this year they can fly out here for Christmas. One son lives in Portland Oregon, so we see him about every 3-4 months. No one ever told me they would someday grow up and leave. I’m joking it just kinda hits all at once.

All the dishes we use this week must be kosher for Passover, so either new or kashered or saved from last Passover. Good morning! To answer your question, it’s both. The food cannot contain any chametz so we just have to be careful about that. I will purchase some carefully prepared foods to make things easier, but mostly we make our own foods :)

@@jaroffireflies as a T1AO, can confirm. As a matter of fact, T1's run low quite a bit. If I didn't have access to sugar (which in reality, your brain actually needs to function), it would get ugly, very quickly - hitting a 52 BGL is not something I'd wish on anyone, ever.

I haven’t made a video about it, but it’s super simple. It’s a square scarf folded in half so it’s a large triangle, centered on my head and tied at the back of my neck. So comfy and I love the look! Hope those instructions make sense! 💜

There is special kosher for Passover coke that is made from real sugar instead of corn syrup (Ashkenaz Jews do not eat corn on Passover)

Can you just have a separate set of dishes or must it be disposable?
@jaroffireflies
@jaroffireflies 3 жыл бұрын
Great question. This year is weird because of the timing so close to Shabbat. We eat bread on Shabbat, but then we have Pesach where we can’t have bread in the house. So the dishes were for Passover, and we couldn’t use them for bread on Shabbat. My regular dishes were already put away for the holiday, so not accessible. Plus if I used real dishes, I wouldn’t even be able to wash them until after Passover is over next week. So basically disposable is the option :) I hope that makes sense!!!

Why is the water in the Mikvah so off looking? Is it filtered/should it be? I know you said it must be pure rainwater.
