Passport Sis Moved To Thailand....and Became HOMELESS AF!

A woman has described how she wound up 'homeless' in Thailand after relocating from the U.S. to South East Asia to become a 'digital nomad' with no financial safety net.
Kiawanna Moore booked a one-way flight from her native Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Japan back in August 2023.
At the time, she left 'not having any plans and I didn't know anything about Japan,' she admitted in a TikTok summarizing her experience.
'I SOLD EVERYTHING I OWNED & MOVED ACROSS SEAS…' she declared in the title of a KZbin video documenting her flight to Tokyo.
Not long after she'd arrived in Tokyo, she'd realized the city was too expensive and promptly decamped for Thailand
But, a few weeks later, a new video appeared on her channel: 'TOKYO IS THE WORST PLACE TO STAY !! I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO MOVE.'
This montage captured her as she flew from Tokyo to Thailand in search of a more affordable yet still exotic locale.
'I realized Japan was extremely expensive and I wasn't gonna last long with the amount of money that I came with,' she explained in the TikTok.
So she decided to relocate to Thailand, again heading there with 'no plans' and 'not knowing anything about the country.'
Elsewhere on her social media, she confessed that she only had $7 in her bank account when she arrived at the Thai city of Pattaya, where she had been trying to get settled since.
While she stretched her money for five months, she confessed in the TikTok: 'I still wasn't able to figure out how to make income. I ran out of money.'
'And that is how I ended up homeless in Thailand,' she concluded.
It's also unclear whether Kiawanna applied for or obtained a work permit allowing her to be legally employed on Thai soil.
Thousands of viewers took to the comments, some steeped in harsh judgement of Kiawanna's situation, while others extended encouragement and advice.

The average person isn’t too keen on helping folks who put themselves into tough situations that were highly avoidable; especially if they had warned that individual not to put themselves into said avoidable situation in the first place. I wouldn’t be too quick to help someone who moved to another country all willy nilly without them having planned everything out before making the move. I always say to folks to not make life changing decisions without counting the costs. I don’t care if you’re moving down the street into a new house, you had better weighed the decision and prepared before you decide to make that move.

In this day and age, there is no excuse for not researching a place before you go. For example, there are so many videos on travel and work visas, how much money you might need, budget-friendly areas in whatever country you want to go to. Why leave anywhere without a plan! One of the biggest changes I made as I grew older is to be a planner. I think 5 years ahead. I rarely focus on immediate problems which are not emergencies. Just because it’s cheaper to live somewhere doesn’t mean it’s going to be a cake walk elsewhere. You have to make a name for yourself. One way trips sounds good but what’s the plan B. You need to know where you're going, what the average cost of food per day will be, hotel costs, entrance visa stamp (if need) costs, any exit tariffs, cost of transportation and how to get around on said transpo. Do you need a visa to work from there?! Probably. It's logical, you gotta plan! Japan is not cheap at all

Rather than spending her whole life in one place and being broke, at least she faced her fear. What I'm getting at is a lot of black Americans spend most of their lives in one spot broke thinking this is as good as it gets. They turn to drugs, welfare, etc. We take for granted the systems we have in place in the U.S. not knowing the opportunity we have in this country and others. She is gonna come back to the U.S. with a new mindset and appreciation and work effort. Most Americans are too self-centered and don't know what's out there. I'm an adult experienced expat. I have taught in other countries and have done web designs as a digital nomad. I see the "poetry" of packing everything and leaving, but sis was dumb. If you don't have qny skills that can translate to the global market then reevaluate your life. How were you there 5 months and not be able to generate income. You could have ... Become wn English tutor. Work/Volunteered at a hostel Done private tours Become a waitress or housekeeper ( having to be paid under the table). Also did she not consider how dangerous that could have been? For most of Asia, it's pretty safe, but what if you got pick pocketed? Your last resources gone. What if you got sick or injured? What if you lost your passport? Thank the Lord none of that happened but don't put yourself in that situation in the first place
