@@KristaBrewer-rq7mo hi krista, i doubt if ludden had much to say about who is on the panel. that would have been the owners of the show making those decisions. and they probably told allen to put up with them, cuz they brought the viewers in. i dont really blame ludden, as he probably did not have any more he was able to do. but it sorta reminds me of slapping a kid's hand, and telling him not to do it again - like that really works - LOL

Krista Brewer Betsy was way ahead of her time. She didn’t conform to the stiff, regimented norm whereby most celebrities on the show (particularly in the beginning) would comply with the rules of the game. Carol Channing was another guest on the show who would often flout the rules, much to Allen Ludden’s chagrin, whilst remaining friendly with her. I think It added unintentional humour to the proceedings, and personally endeared me to Betsy and Carol.

You can only hope the show invited the contestant back after Betsy was gone.

It wasn’t derogatory, it’s the times, back then it was quite normal for the woman to stay home and bring up the kids etc and the man brought in the money. One of the reasons a lot of kids are off the rails today is because both parents work and don’t put in the time to bring the kids up like it used to be.
