Wow, talk about fixing what wasn't broken. They took a simple but entertaining format and convoluted the whole thing with extra steps that mostly detract from the game. This version of the show was a serious mess.

That started with Password All Stars. I guess for consistency reasons, they kept the qualifying round from that run, but the bonus game was new. The scoring format was made more complicated than it had to be.

Thankfully with Plus, Goodson managed to figure out how to change up the Password format correctly without making things too complicated.

By far the worst version of Password ever created. ABC just couldn’t leave well enough alone and the more they stuck their hands in it, the lower the ratings went.

The ratings were already down before Password All Stars and this version of Password. Fast Rising Young and the Restless had something to do with Password's ratings decline.

Thank you. I guess this is near the end of the original run. Was this run on an overseas base (just wondering based on the promo)? Always enjoy seeing Betty White on game shows, and with Alan. This set looks much nicer than the cheap Password Plus set.

My goodness! ABC canceled “Dark Shadows” for THIS???? But in December 1975 “The Edge of Night” replaced PASSWORD!

The Edge of Night replaced Showoffs. Showoffs replaced Password.
