He did know it, I think. He just didn't talk about it on air. I believe that he had just taken the month of April off while he had chemotherapy. Bill Cullen filled in as host, during the prior month of April.

This episode is from May 27, 1980 not August 1980. August would have changed the answer board in writing and also the flashing lights. A pick 1980 episode of Password Plus is definitely this one.
