Young lady, you are a great teacher. You taught us the basic differences between the present perfect and the past so clearly. Now that I could go back to my grammar book, and those rules made me much easier to comprehend. The biggest challenge is when I speech in English, when to use the right tenses. I have been struggling all these years in the English speaking world. Keep up your good work. Many Thanks.

She doesn't seem to use a teleprompter. That's a lot of memorising. That's hard work indeed. What I always miss is a better sound. It's not that it's bad but it could be better. I'm an audio person so I can be picky. Just as a curiosity, she has a video where she or her team forgot to turn on the mic and someone decided to use the audio f4om the camera. Horrible! But it's something that happens a lot. Still, the decision of not recording the video again was... reckless, in my opinion. I bet she had a reason for it. She's great!

Don't feel embarrassed! It's very confusing to non-native speakers, especially since colloquial American English that's used in lots of films uses it differently in some contexts. (And it's great that she points this out at the end of her video!) So keep coming back to this. That doesn't have to be embarrassing...you're smart to review this! Even other English teachers are referring their students to this video!

this is the first time understood what is the present perfect !!! 👍
@drjp42123 жыл бұрын
Ty so much for that. I asked for it long ago, even though the video about the present perfect already existed. As a general rule of thumb, simple past is used for past things/events which are specific and exclusively belonging to the past, while present perfect is for things/event when time precision isn't really needed or such thing/event still may happen until now/affects the present. I'm a native Portuguese speaker (from Brazil) and my language almost only uses "perfect and imperfect past", whose major differences are about such things/events being able or not to be done again....while the connection to the present is expressed by using the past continuous tense or like the informal English (using the simple past because it's a specific and finished action in the past despite influencing the present).
