Pasta Puttanesca was invented in the mid-twentieth century.
The ingredients are typical of southern Italian cuisine:
tomatoes, olive oil, anchovies, olives, capers and garlic.

INGREDIENTS:
500 g Spaghetti (another type of pasta is also possible)
800 gr Canned peeled tomatoes (San Marzano) or fresh in season!
10 g Capers (in salt)
1 sprig of oregano (fresh)
25 g Anchovy fillets (in olive oil)
100 gr Gaeta olives or pitted black olives
3 cloves Garlic chopped (or squeezed through a garlic press)
1 to 2 Dried chili pepper (to taste)
1 dash of olive oil
some salt to taste
some pepper to taste
some fresh basil leaves (chopped)
parmegiano or peccorino cheese (optional)
