Great design. I did have one issue with a bad spool to where the drive bit stripped out the drive winder. So I made the winder with two diff styles one with a manual handle the other with a 3/8 octagon post for the drill to grip onto. Printed at 100% for strength at that point.

Fantastic! Recommendation: clip off that 'blockage' you applied to the filament end on the receiving spool once the winding is done. This will ensure (hopefully), that when you're using that new spool and it gets to the end, it will exit the spool 'safely' as the printer pulls it off. Your filament 'run-out detector', if you have one, will then be able to do its job.

Sorry for the delay! Glad you managed to make your own though :) There are heaps of them around, i just searched sunlu-bambu filament adapter, then measured the size of the hole in the spool, then downloaded the one that fit :)

I am looking for a spool winder that uses 1K spools as the doner to put them onto a 3K spool for printer use (receiver). It seems all of the larger ones are going in the other direction.

So I downloaded your file. What dimintions do I print the whole file at? If I put it in bambu app it fills the bed for p1s 235x235mm and if I put it in the creality app it fills the bed for my ender 3v3 bed (220×220mm)?

Print as is, no need to scale, if it doesn't fit, just print over a few plates :)

What are your print settings? Whenever I print stuff this tall it gets pulled off the print bed near the top.

Aww man that's annoying. Have you tried using magigoo? It is a game changer! It helps keep everything stuck to the bed, I think it will help :)

I had a fail on the two crossbars at the base when i printed them vertically (as they were on the "one plate" print download. I printed them lying on their side, and because they have flats, they printed fine for me that way.

Hi, Ive printed this and assembled. When I start to wind, the spool I'm winding on to keeps jumping off it. Is there something to hold it down?

I had the same thing happen, there are clips you can find on thingiverse that help, but I found that once I added a motor, the force of it actually kept the spool in place. I have a video on how I installed the motor on my channel :)

@ Thanks. I used it today, had to hold my finger on top to hold it place. Unfortunately it didn’t wind it very evenly, went on very loosely

Hi, can you share which filament spool adapter you used? I looked in thingiverse and there are so many, but I haven't found the one you used

It just depends on your spool and how wide the hole is. Grab a tape measure and see how wide it is, then type in something like this "Sunlu to Bamboo Lab Filament Adapter XXmm". Here is one that fits 72mm similar to the video - www.printables.com/model/856559-sunlu-72mm-spool-centering-disc-for-bambu-lab-spoo?lang=en . If you have a black plastic spool like mine, it probably similar to the one sunlu uses. Let me know if this helps!

what infill did you use

I tend to use AI infill for most things now at 15%. Can't remember what I used for this one sorry, but there are a few parts that need 100%, have a look at the instructions on the printables page :)

This is great, but I’m just having a hell of a time inserting those TPU flaps!!

They were a bit of a pain to print because they are so thin 😆 took me a few goes, but if they printed correctly then they should slot in pretty easily. Is it hard to get them in, or is it hard for them to stay in?

@@LayerLabAustralia They printed ok, had a little blob on one side but I tried inserting with the perfect end. Couldn’t even do it with pliers to help. So I just slid them in with the thin side and that still works just fine. 😃 Maybe will try printing them again later.

same! I ended up just snipping off like 1-2mm off each side that goes in and they slid in
