i personally prefer to do a slightly richer or brighter color and then make it fade over a week because that pigment, once its pastel on your hair, it will stay a lot longer than making pastel hair dye from the beginning, also it makes sure the pastel is richer in pigment as well so not too dull. you can put oil treatment on your hair and then wash with dish soap, it will fade pretty quick, but the pigment has penetrated into the hair follicle deeper so it is a slightly richer pastel and stays longer. i kept my hair the perfect pastel pink for months doing this. i started with neon pink and diluted that.

Adding color to conditioner does work, but be careful!! Working in a salon, I've learned washing any color should be in cold water!! Your hair cuticle doesn't open like it does it warm water, so it doesn't strip the color as much! And dry shampoo is definitely a must!!😊

An extra tip for the hair washing: You can wash your hair with only conditioner, because that won't fade your hair anywhere near as much as shampoo does! it obviously doesn't fully clean your hair but it definitely makes it look less greasy!

Why is it gross to wash hair not that often ! I wash it once a week , because my hair doesn't get greasy. That's not gross, why should I wash hair that is fine?

I had to bleach my hair twice to get it this lavender. It was so hard to get it to match my extensions but it worked😍 Next color I want is mint, maybe by nov-dec. And YESSS toner is life!!!

I love your videos and your style. Something that would improve this particular video about pastel do's and don'ts would be if you had visual examples of how to mix pastels or how to tone (I realize that this takes a ton of prep time, but it would really enhance your explanations). Also, I would love to know how you bleach your roots. I've also got dark hair with purple underlights, but when I went to bleach my roots so I could extend the color it (obviously) didn't lift to the level needed for the same bright purple I have. Do I just need to suck it up and continue the multibleaching process over several months so that my regrowth matches my length, or is there a better/faster process I can go through to keep up with my growth?

Also, if you have a water softener, it won't take the pigment out of your hair as fast. You can also, wash your hair wither distilled water. Since there are no minerals in distilled water, there is really nothing it can do to remove pigment.
