What an incredible painting!! The sky is absolutely wonderful & the water looks so real!! I've adapted my painting style by implementing some of your techniques. I never thought of wiping paint off of the canvas before. I've always used the old saying "A thin paint will stick to a thick paint" but it's so easy to become a mud-mixer doing it that way too. The way you go about your underpainting is the key to allow you to get all that incredible detail. I've also been using less paint too. Thanks for sharing! Your work is impeccable!!

Amazing, such a beautiful scene. Brilliant use of colors, and what a fantastic sky- with the layers and shapes of the clouds. Great composition and contrast of the sea , brilliant. The forground- with the blended colors on the land with the ripples along the sand such great perspective. I want to go to this place and just look up at that breathtaking sky. Wow! So excited to see this! I wanted to do a water scene for my Mother in law for Mothers day. She lives in Savannah. I have sent her many a cabin and mountain scene, but she does not have a love for the mountains like I do. She will be thrilled to have this if I can get it right! Thank you so very much. Many artists are best at one type of landscape or type of scene. You have demonstrated your talent transcends all landscapes with perfection!

I was glad to see you got the natural progression of the visible spectrum, meaning the correct order of colors as they are seen in nature. I never thought much about it until I got them backwards in a painting I did, but I didn’t tell anybody and so far nobody has figured it out, but the progression is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet and I got it just backwards. Ha ha

I wish I knew which colors you were using...green could mean a number of things when it comes to paint. Or blue, red, yellow - there are so many variants I wish I knew!

That is one way to do it. Start off with a mix of linseed oil and white over the entire canvas. Or you can also buy premixed thin white oil paint.

Beautiful composition, I will be attempting to replicate this one next. I love how clear and simple your instructions are, I'm a big fan of your videos, they have taught me so much about how to do landscape paintings with oil paints! Do you have any advice on how how to blend/ apply paint to large areas such as the sky smoothly without leaving streak lines? I feel my paint is too dry or something, even though linseed oil and paint thinner. I'm still a beginner so may be doing something wrong!
