Pastel Pet Portrait of Tilly ~ Rescue dog. She is a mix bread of Yorkshire Terrier & Cairn Terrier.

In this narrated Pastel Pet Portrait Tutorial I share with you my techniques and tips on how to simply mix the colour for this portrait of Tilly. She is a rescue dog. The new owners have seen a massive improvement in her health as she was very nervous and had lost most of her teeth. It was a real joy to create this work for them. Hello… I see you don’t use any glassine paper, how do you prevent the pastel from smudging?

Hello Jan... I do occasionally use glassing paper and also a bob stick what I use when I'm oilpainting. Because I stand to draw and paint I sometimes also place my little figure where there is no pastel which seems to work too. I'm not really too concerned about smudging the underdrawing... for the fine details I do tend to use the Bob stick. All the best.🙏
