Damn. I always wondered why I chose to call Basement my favorite band of all time, but the interviews here have really made it more obvious. I'm never focused on the present moment; it's always the past, the future, some form of daydream, etc. But it's hard for me to just pay attention to the given situation. I have ADD, so that makes it a bit more challenging, but even still I find myself sometimes consciously choosing to ignore the present. Basement's music have always given me some closure when I become aware of this, making me feel less like I'm cursed and more like I'm just going through the motions as everyone else is. The present is something both precious and painful, but at least I'm in it. I can't force myself into the past or the future - it's just a huge waste of energy I could use to make new experiences right now. So, thanks Basement. For helping me feel better about things since the 8th grade. High school ending in May doesn't seem so daunting with the UK bois around.
