Well I did make this yesterday and it tasted wonderful, there's just on thing though, I cooked it way too long. I did the 1-1/2 hours you said but it was very dry. I checked the ingredients and they were correct so it had to be cooking time. The dough came out perfect and I even put the leftovers in a pan in the oven and they were very good, bu the outside, and the top after cooking was very hard to eat and the bottom was fine. The sides and top were hard like a store bought cookie. I will try this again and shorten the cook time a little and see what happens. Thanks again for all your recipes and I will keep watching and trying new things you make.

@@alessandrasfoodislove My Dad is second generation. His grandfather came over when he was 16 alone and stayed with friends of the family who happened to be his nonna’s family. She was thirteen fell in love and they were married. My father’s nonna raised him while his mom and dad went out to work. He spoke Italian first before learning english. I learned this recently. He’s kept that a secret throughout his life. He always talks about her cooking and says “ nobody cooked like my nanny”. I love the stories, she did everything from scratch making pasta, baking, He likes my cooking and tells me I’m like her. Thank you so very much! It’s all about the sweet memories. Not super crazy ingredients, the essence you can get orange blossom or orange essence. If you can get STREGA you can use any citrus based liqueur. My nonna would always say “se non ce l’hai non ci vuole” “if you don’t have it you don’t need it” I guess it was a way to make fo with what we had or getting a little creative. Happy Easter but first happy at Joseph’s day. Hope you’ll make Zeppole. 💖

Hello Alessandra, I like your videos! In europe eggs are not washed before selling so you need not to put them in the fridge (up to three weeks). In the US I heard that they wash them (because there is perhaps popo on them) before selling. Eggs have by nature the cuticula on the surface, that keeps bacteria and salmonella outside the egg. 😉👍

Thank you so much! Yes and I do remember that my nonna kept them in a dish on the kitchen counter. Even the supermarket don’t refrigerate them. I hated when they made us drink raw egg by poking a hole on top and bottom of the egg. I did love uovo sbattuto with sugar a little coffee or VoV. They sent us to school with giving us raw eggs, alcohol and caffeine! 😂😂😂the good old days, now you can get arrested. Lol Thank you for watching and sharing your knowledge.💕

@alessandrasfoodislove2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and fir the great question. I’ve been reading labels and ricotta should be 3 ingredients. When it has more than that I refuse to buy it. It makes a difference. I get whole milk ricotta Calabro brand and get it at Whole Foods. My local deli Carries Lebanon brand that’s local in NJ. The third choice is shop rite, they carry a natural ricotta not sure if it’s Galbani. I promise I will check and let you know. My next step is starting to make my own ricotta cheese. Lol.
