This is one thing I think you get wrong. The epic of Gilgamesh doesn't tell the story of the flood. It references it. Gilgamesh, in his search for immortality, talks to the person who survived their version of the flood. There are a lot of similarities in the quick overview of the flood but to say Noah is a copy of the Epic of Gilgamesh is just wrong. There are also other stories from the area that are closer. Like Enki creating humans and Enlil trying to destroy them because he didn't like the noise they made. Then Enki warns a human and they make a boat. This is why I think it's so important that if someone's going to use the "they just copied x y z" argument they actually know about the x y or z.

I am an atheist. I define atheism as suspending any acknowledgment as to the reality of any particular god until sufficient credible evidence is introduced. My position is that *_I have no good reason to acknowledge the reality of any god._* And here is why I currently hold to such a position. Below are 10 facts I must consider when evaluating the claim made by certain theists that some god exists in reality. To be clear, these are not premises for any argument concluding there to be no gods. These are simply facts I must take into account when evaluating such a claim. 1. I personally have never observed a god. 2. I have never encountered any person who has claimed to have observed a god. 3. I know of no accounts of persons claiming to have observed a god that were willing or able to demonstrate or verify their observation for authenticity, accuracy, or validity. 4. I have never been presented a valid logical argument that also employed sound premises that lead deductively to a conclusion that a god(s) exists in reality. 5. Of the many logical syllogisms I have encountered arguing for the reality of a god(s), I have found all to contain either logical fallacies or false or unsubstantiated premises. 6. I have never observed a phenomenon in which the existence of a god was a necessary antecedent for the known or probable explanation for the causation of that phenomenon. 7. Several proposed (and generally accepted) explanations for observable phenomena that were previously based on the agency of a god(s), have subsequently been replaced with rational, natural explanations, each substantiated with evidence that excluded the agency of a god(s). I have never encountered _vice versa._ 8. I have never experienced the presence of a god through intercession of angels, divine revelation, the miraculous act of divinity, or any occurrence of a supernatural event. 9. Every phenomenon that I have ever observed has *_emerged_* from necessary and sufficient antecedents over time without exception. In other words, I have never observed a phenomenon (entity, process, object, event, process, substance, system, or being) that was created _ex nihilo_ - that is instantaneously came into existence by the solitary volition of a deity. 10. All claims of a supernatural or divine nature that I have encountered have either been refuted to my satisfaction or do not present as falsifiable. ALL of these facts lead me to the only rational conclusion that concurs with the realities I have been presented - and that is the fact that there is *_no good reason_* for me to acknowledge the reality of any god. I have heard often that atheism is the denial of the Abrahamic god. But denial is the active rejection of a substantiated fact once credible evidence has been presented. Atheism is simply withholding such acknowledgment until sufficient credible evidence is introduced. *_It is natural, rational, and prudent to be skeptical of unsubstantiated claims, especially extraordinary ones._* I welcome any cordial response. Peace.

Destroy the world? Not in the sense that nuclear annihilation would. Change the world? Of course it would. For better or worse will ultimately depend on the species, but as a human, good luck with all your fresh water evaporating.
@molybdomancer1956 ай бұрын
Depends what you mean by “destroy”. Many people think that climate change could cause mass extinction and changes to habitats that will make it very difficult for life on earth for a long time. The planet won’t be destroyed no but life might be or would very diminished.
@GamingWithNikolas6 ай бұрын
@molybdomancer195 I'm still very sure that is a massive exaggeration. Life isn't going to be extremely diminished unless we litteraly do nothing for a few more generations.
@odinson63486 ай бұрын
@@GamingWithNikolas Then you're just not paying attention. Mexico City, one of the most populated cities on Earth, doesn't have another generation's worth of drinking water. Likely the same for Las Vegas as well.

This is way off topic but watching you play Zelda TOTC hurts my soul. Playing that game and then playing other games after has literally ruined a lot of my gaming experience and enjoyment. It’s like eating dog food for your entire life and then someone giving you a bite of filet mignon and then giving you a bite of dog food after. That game was so good and unique it’s made all the other games look small, unoriginal , and just lack of imagination or complexity. It makes games feel like …..well….games……Zelda totc feels like more than that. It’s gaming perfection imho. If you guys haven’t played it I highly recommend it. Def in my top 3 games of all time and might be #1 depending on my mood that day lol.

Maybe give the souls games a try if you haven't. They had that effect on me, even Zelda feels plastic by comparison.

@@doggodoggo3000 yah I might have to do that. I tried the first one but didn’t like it so much but I def want to play elden ring. I’ve heard so much about it. I just want a game like Zelda where I’m doing a quest and then I stumble across something unexpectedly and then I look up at the clock and 3hr have passed and I totally forgot about the quest I was on because I found something really interesting randomly. Very few games have given me that feeling. Skyrim, red dead redemption , and the two most recent Zelda’s are what come to mind most. I just loved how in totk the creators had a way they intended you to complete a puzzle but I often found some other way that was outside of the box but somehow still worked. I also loved how if you see a treasure on a cliff above you but can’t get there? No problem build a freaking airship. You got a river you can’t cross?? No problem build a bridge or boat. The amount of freedom and how well it all works was such a breath of fresh air. I’m amazed at how well it all ran. I hope more games employ some of the game mechanics totk implemented. Thanks for the suggestion though. I will def give elden ring a try really soon.

yea i didnt like the first one at first. but when it clicked it became one of my favorite games. its extremely clunky by modern standards. i went back and played some ds3 the other day and even it felt pretty clunky. the only ones ive actually beat are sekiro and ds1. im not so much into crafting and stuff but there certainly is some overlap to elden ring and the last 2 zeldas with the open world. but it is pretty different. they are cool experiences if you can grind them out. the world building and lore are awesome. though no one really knows what they are about lol. you can play and beat the game and not really know whats going on or what you just did. lol. you literally get lore through like item description and character and enemy placement for the most part. the vibe and tone sort of reminds me of playing oot and majoras mask as as kid when they were a bit challenging and spooky still. sekiro is my favorite i think though has the least replay value and is very different from the other is the way it plays. but it feels so good to get good at sekiro. its awesome. i sucked so bad at first. but again there was a moment where it clicked. i dont play as many games as i used to anyway, but fromsoft did kind of kill other games for me. or like changed the games i feel like playing. i also like hollow knight and blasphemous and celeste alot. which are all pretty hard, when i was younger i didnt really play any difficult games. @@TheTracepyott

@@doggodoggo3000 have you played the most recent Star Wars game? I hear it’s a lot like the souls games but easier. I really enjoyed the combat in it. I legit felt like a Jedi badass by the end of the game. The only thing I hate about those type of games is respawning enemies every time you do the little campfire or whatever. To me it takes me out of the game so much. The only thing I hate probably more than that in gaming is level scaling enemies. That’s prob my biggest gripe with the newest Zelda’s. They do it really well but I still don’t care for it. I love games where you go to a certain area and with enough skill sure you can beat that part but it’s super super hard, and if you can’t you go do other things and level up and then you get stronger and then absolutely own the previous super hard enemy. Nothing feels better in gaming to me like when you struggle fighting an enemy and then come back hours later and it’s a walk in the ball park. I guess I enjoy the power fantasy and feeling of progression. If a game doesn’t have good progression and a feeling of upgrading I will quickly get bored with it. Btw speaking of good games, have you played hell divers 2? I usually hate Gaas games but hell divers 2 is really well done and super fun to play. What system do you play on?
@doggodoggo30006 ай бұрын
i played the first jedi fallen order. its is infact like dark souls but easier. Ive called it "babies first souls game" its good. i might buy the second when its on sale one day. i mean most games going way back had enemies that respawn when you reload the area. oot and majoras mask on n64 for example all the field enemies respawn. on the old souls games those bon fires are like a comfort. you are learning a new area and getting beat up like "where tf is the fire! im going to lose my souls!" so when you find it its this really awesome reward. im good enough now where on elden ring and can skip them. just activate them for the map but dont reset the area. you can light bon fires without actually resting at them. not having to rest as much at graces is a sign im getting better. but also its lore. as all the games the worlds are undying. thats why you respawn and stuff and everyone is a zombie or monster or whatever. people dont die. so it makes sense that the monsters you kill come back mostly. I think zelda does something similar as the monsters are made by ganon or whatever. its all kind of abstract and weird in fromsoft games. but the worlds have undead and you are one. Elden ring you are a Tarnished who had been banished from the lands between and are resurrected to follow the path of grace to become elden lord or something. no one really knows what it means or why. elden ring has alot of commentary on religion actually. if you are into that sort of stuff you might like the lore aspect. explorations of the themes of science and alchemy and organized religion are all buried in there. i wont open that can of worms. but if you like feeling a feeling of progression you might like the souls games, they can be kind of tough to get into though sekiro is one of my faves. i bought it and got my a** beat and put it down for months and came back and it eventually clicked and now its one of my faves. ive actually beat that one. some people say its the hardest, im not so sure. with elden ring and dark souls people do different runs and builds. if i put the game down for a while, i almost never return to that same character. I just start over. i tried a level 1 run the other day and did pretty good. its basically alot more focus on crafting and weapon upgrades....and not getting hit. ive put hundreds pf hours into elden ring and never actually beat it lol. theres stil a whole region on the map ive never been too. Ive yet to fight malenia, mohg, godfrey, radagon, or the elden beast. lol. i could probably beat them though. i think. sekiro might be the only one ive actually completed. ac 6 i made it to the last missions basically. they were pretty hard and i put it down and then the games are kinda hard to pick back up. you can beat the game with basically any weapon, you just gotta learn the build and upgrade path and see if you like that play style. elden ring ive tried a bunch of different builds. str, dex, str/fai, dex/fai, Int, int/dex, int/fai, arc, arc/dex, and a rl1 build so far. and i preordered the dlc. and i watch tons of elden ring lore and comments and even join in the discussion. Thats probably what i like the most. more so than the actual games. though they are phenomenal. its a really good time to be into elden ring because the dlc drops in about 2 months so there is lots of theories and speculations. i be dead a** copying item descriptions and snippets of dialogue in youtube comments discussing lore with people. its fun. I think the best intro into this scene and the depth is "THE ELDEN RING DLC TRAILER KEEPS ME UP AT NIGHT" video by quelaag. like you dont have to watch it, but like just look at that freaking chart she made lol. shes like charlie from always sunny with the red string conspiracy board. and these games never really spell anything out anyway. they are deliberately vague. it reminds me of a painting and the unforgiving world is just part of it. i freaking love it. im a total fan girl for elden ring. i like the zelda lore stuff too and grew up on it but the from stuff has alot more depth to it i think. i havent played hell divers. i dont really do alot of online as my internet connection isnt that great. and im not all that into shooters. i dig observing the scene and memes and stuff though. @@TheTracepyott
