As brave as the Spartans were: a) they were worshippers of pagan deities b) If their children were weak or deformed they would leave them out to die. Just like our culture supports abortion & sometimes survival of the fittest. It always irritates me when pastors use natural men as positive spirit trend representatives. I was told that if the unbeliever can do it, it is not the Christian life. However I never really had a Christian mentor who I can claim lived a supernatural life that no unbeliever could either understand or mimic. Why present the best of life that the unbeliever can live as Christian? Why did they want to pass off Pat Tillman as a Christian military hero when he was an atheist? Because they want to conflate the virtues of the pagans with the alleged supernatural virtues of Christians. As far as I have noticed I have never seen any believer live a life in front of me that can be described as any different than the best or worst of unbelievers might live. I cannot live a life I have never seen demonstrated. I suppose we as Christians are just supposed to know always what to do in any given situation without any mentor or trainer other than the Holy Spirit. If this is what God requires of me I can only say it is impossible & I am one of its greatest failures. I am not talking about someone that made a movie of it that I never met or know from MAdam or StEve. I can find plenty of inspirational movies & plenty of pastors that will tell me tales of heroism & divine provision & miracles. I cannot find one real piece of flesh & blood to inspire me. Often I fear that most of the names that stand out from human history be they heroes or villains are nothing more than member's of secret brotherhoods that the elite want to use as heroes to inspire us sheeple. Are these stories real or is there a piece of real flesh & blood I can get to know & look at as different from the world? Every one knows the winners write the history & create the heroes.

Understand what you mean. Study the early Church. First 300 years. St Dimetrios St Pantolemon St george They all were martyred..... they’re my hero’s all were put to death by Diocletian
