Do me a favor EducatedBlackMan, define what a Home is and then go through some areas of East Baltimore, at least what's left of it and tell me how many HOMES you actually find. There is a certain order that defines FAMILY. I believe you will find that too many Black Families are dysfunctional, out of order and anything out of order does not work. Believe it or not this is by design. Parents may not be Electricians, Plumbers or Carpenters but if you build Schools that give it's students the proper tools, the Schools will produce Electricians, Plumbers and Carpenters. What are the Schools producing today? I say change the curriculum, give our children the proper tools to be successful in life. They are given test to pass in class but not to pass in LIFE!

One way to help the children learn. Better tasting, better quality breakfast and lunch. Good filling meals will some cases give you better students. Contract with some good restaurants and feed these kids.

It has absolutely nothing to do with education or schools, it’s the parents job to raise, rear and keep their children in check it’s called ACCOUNTABILITY OF ONE’S SELF WHICH UNFORTUNATELY IS NOT BEING PRACTICED WITHIN CERTAIN PARTS OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY. IAM 64 and loved to attend school. Graduation of class 1976 and college grad 1987.attended airforce army reserve from 1981 to 1995. Black lady age 64. My aunt sis raised me and would Woop my but it i fIled. Thanks aunt sis and Caroline mason another aunt y'all rip with love

It's the complete breakdown of a community. I attended public schools in D.C. (in the 80's) and abroad in a 3rd world country. The school system in D.C. was sooooo behind and malfunctioned in comparison to my experience in a 3rd world education. Did I mention that in the 3rd world country the school was a building built in the 1600's, the teacher had nothing but a chalk board and our desks were over 100 years old and still had the holes where the ink wells were placed; best education received until we moved to Montgomery County, MD in the 90's. The kids that wanted to learn were separated out and challenged to achieve. The other students....well, you can only lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink🤷 P.S. learning doesn't happen by osmosis.... merely placing a child in "a better school" doesn't mean they will suddenly achieve.

I don’t believe and blame it others for my actions. But in this case I’m going to have to agree with Mr. Crump, more kids could be saved if we invest more in them. Not all, especially since the school would have to go toe to toe with bad parents. But more is more, and the people running the schools, administration, and staff are extremely problematic.

@Afro Thunder those things are important but that’s characteristics, moral things. The constitution and the Bill of Rights are the most important things they can learn in school. A lot of us were not taught our civil rights and look where that has gotten us. Police hold their hand up and swear to an oath that they never read nor do they understand or they just don’t care to protect it, Schools are not teaching moral standards like you speak of. Those usually come from the home anyway. However, the schools used teach those kinds of things, they sure don’t any more. Now they teach everyone how to be a victim and keep the truth from them like the bill of rights and how important those rights may be through out their lives. No free thinkers are in allowed only those who will follow all orders and comply we need freethinkers. 😢

Reading and comprehension is the most important thing you can teach early in school. A person with high Reading and comprehension skills can teach themselves alot on their own.

@@kinte1870 Geez I realize that I’m telling you though no one taught me my constitutional rights when I was in school of course if I didn’t know how to read my rights it would have hard to learn them. I’m trying to let people know something that I promise you is important. I did not even know I had rights to about 10 years ago. Now, I know now I stand on them in order to keep this country free. They are a very important thing that I try to get everyone to learn them ( if they don’t already)even most police don’t know them which is one reason they violate our rights all the time. 🙂

@@AmericanAmy Yeah you didn't pay attention in school. They covered the constitution and bill of rights in school . I'm from Alabama and I remember learning about civil rights in school. Alot of you people say you weren't taught things in school when in reality these are the things you thought were boring in school. If you didn't know you had rights until 10 years ago ...tells me all I need to know because I was reading the encyclopedia I'm elementary out of curiosity.

@@kinte1870 I did pay attention my favorite class was history in fact. I thought about becoming a history teacher when I was younger. They taught me about the constitution they taught me about the inception of it etc. they did tell me that that constitution was to limit the government from overreaching however, no one told me that the Bill of Rights would ever affect me that I would ever need to know them no one made me learn them no one taught them to be me or what they mean one by one (even though our rights are not limited to the constitution) so yes I was paying very good attention. I know what I was taught and what I wasn’t taught. I’m not saying every school didn’t teach them. I’m not saying every school don’t teach them now. I highly doubt they do. I’m just trying to pass on some good advice to try to help other people if people don’t wanna listen to me they don’t have to I am trying to be kind (as always) and look where it gets me 🤦‍♀️. You should be thankful someone taught you your rights when you were younger. If you know how important they are then I think you would agree everybody needs to know them. Our rights are supposed to be an absolute defense against a tyrannical government (of course they get violated all the time) but knowing your rights and knowing when to shut up can help you in court even if you do have to take the ride. . Like I I said earlier most cops don’t know them yet they hold their hands up and swear an oath to protect them. I am also an avid reader and I have been for years, I’ve always read I just never knew how those rights affect me and how they would affect me if I had to deal with the police. Funny I remember one other stuff they taught me I have an excellent memory also I can remember when I was one and a half years old so don’t just be assuming shit about me please. There’s nothing wrong with having a conversation but why lace it with such a condescending better than thou attitude? So you think I’m lying ? even if I did forget( which I didn’t) it doesn’t make it any less important to make sure all the children learn their rights. Once again parents everyone please make sure you and your children know their rights and how to stand on them, and I advise people to always video all interactions with police and all public employees in the course of their duties, I know I sure do, transparency in government is very important.
