We all have questions to a certain degree, but I think it is very dangerous to question God’s righteousness. He does NO wrong. And it doesn’t matter how “good” we think we are unless we are “good” according to God’s standards. This is impossible to accomplish without Jesus Christ. These two matters should not even be up for debate. If you have doubts, pray for wisdom and he will give it to you. Be blessed guys.

"Jesus said to him: “Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God." - Mark 10:18 Jesus wouldn't even accept the title "good" and he was righteous perfectly righteous with no trace of sin in him yet he disavowed taking what rightfully belongs only to God. What you're asking is not the same as what Jesus was saying. Asking if anyone not a Christian can be termed "good" isn't the same because Jesus was not saying no one can manifest good works, but that no one, nay not even the most pious of Christians, are Inherently good in themselves " all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." God Is the only standard of Good it originates with Him and apart from Him there can be no Good since all Goodness flows from Him. The answer to your question is NO one is good not one. The moment we declare someone good is the moment we have put that person in God's seat. Remember in the Garden of Eden Eve decided for herself, based on Satan's goading what is good apart from God our Father that is why we find ourselves in this most pitiable position.

Nice discussion. As for why God commanded killing, I would start by recognizing that God ends life in one way or another all the time. So I don't see how a specific method would make a difference (of course this is a philosophical answer and I understand the emotional hurdle here). I think the more interesting question is why issue a command to a specific group of people to execute? We would think it absurd if someone today said God told them to kill a group of people. Maybe this was not an issue due to cultural context (if God was demonstrably talking to a specific group, the jews, that could possibly explain it). I am unsure about this however and plan to do some more research. I will say, I don't think it is a good epistemology to pick through and try to explain everything in the bible to see if christianity is true (general statment, not an accusation). Somethings may have explanations that we can't figure out or just can't figure out at this time.I find it more reasonable to look an philosophical arguments for and against God (fine-tuning, cosmological, moral, problem of suffering, and of course many others) and investigate the evidence for the resurrection. If there is a God, the cumulative force of these arguments should point to him, however it seems highly probable that a book of books meant to communicate to multiple cultures over a span of thousands of year would not be fully understood by particular cultures at particular times in history.

And this is what has always perplexed me in the Bible. Wasn't it in the Bible, where it is said that the devil is the one who creates riddles? Who avoids giving the truth, and direct answers, in order to cause confusion and decieve? However, in every reference of God speaking to a prophet in the Bible, it seems as though he's speaking in riddles, and avoiding direct answers. I know that you will say, it is because God wants us to make decisions and choose on our own. That he cannot just simply give us the answers that we seek, because we have to find them on our own to obtain salvation. However, it is just a little bit too close for comfort, and creates an uneasy feeling in my gut (my intuition screams something isn't right). Also, the fact that he warns about false prophets. Just a thought. Also I am a believer... In God. I however, question the work of man (bc men are weak and prone to choose sin)... Ordinary man or prophet alike.

Pastor enjoyed the dialogue between you and your son, really a good discussion. However, I do not believe that Bizzle was describing God as a punisher, I think it was more of, “If” I were to punish you for your sins, what would that look like for you. It seems to be more rhetorical in nature. That’s all.

When God had the Israelites go to war; he was giving us an example of what happens when we don't choose him. We die. He was also, giving an example to the Israelites that God will protect them. And will provide for them. And that man cannot prevail against His will.

I love the conversation you guys are having, and the clear relationship that's hear even in the midst of disagreement. But I also feel like some deeper theological points could be pulled, and that were answered here that you guys missed...

Ive watched your video a few times. And others as well. I really like the way you handle your reactions. In this one the question of why did God kill people if he says thou shalt not kill was brought up. Im no preacher nor teacher. Just a believer. But my opinion is that so many of us have a perception of God as if he was man. He is not. He created man. "I am the Potter you are the clay" If you make a vase and it turned out bad, it was bent or crooked, would it within your right to break it and start over with a new one. He has the right to do with what he created anything he chooses. And we don't have the knowledge to understand his motives. Just my opinion. Love you guys. Keep doin what you're doin.

God kills sin anyone who goes against GOD is sin, so when GOD ordered death on human it was lawfully right.

Old video but glad I seen this so Bizzle is my fiancé's uncle, and I happen to know when he wrote nobody is good not one he didn't mean Christian like the gentleman assumed he did, he genuinely meant just a people as a hole which let's face it nobody is perfect.

I think this is something to consider. There are people in life whose spirit is so engulfed in sin that their essence is death. God bringing death upon these people would not be “punishment”. It may not explain the state of the people’s spirit during God’s Wrath in the Bible, but I think it gets to what God sees when he looks in the world especially if it’s behaving like the folks in Sodom and Gomorrah.

A judge can seize someone’s property, but an individual cannot do the same… God can take a life but an individual cannot do that because we are not the ultimate judge, God is…

We are not good up to God's standards. We can not redeem ourselves hence the reason why God sent his only begotten son to die on the cross for our sins. And also about the "contradictions", I have a lot of questions to but you get to a point where you realize that as a human there is a lot that we can simply never understand. But I give all my praises to God and give up on trying to figure it all out. I only want to be on his good side.

Enjoyed listening to this. Westerners are so funny. We lob so many allegations at God without once substantiating our gripes and judgements. Assuming human value, dignity and natural law while putting the God of scripture on trial is quite an ironic, and self-defeating feat.

I just want to say - I'm about halfway through watching at the moment. And I want to answer the point that was briefly raised about how "God says women should be quiet in church." This is actually not true - it is a common misinterpretation of what was said. Timothy said, "Women should be quiet in church." I know this sounds like they have to be silent and not talk, but timothy is actually meaning something different when he says "quiet", and if you don't believe me read the whole of timothy 1 and 2 and you will see the meaning of quiet when he says it. Timothy means that Women should be calm, and accepting of what is said, and shouldn't have heated debates over things (men shouldn't have that either, to be honest, but moving on). So women are allowed to speak, however, they should be "at peace". He further goes on to say (although this could be somewhere else) that women shouldn't dress up - and I really don't think men should either due to the same reasoning - because one should love a woman based on her good works for God, not on how pretty she may look at the time. And just a side note as I am writing a big message here, on the subject of killing/murder, etc. between the new testament and the old testament. The old testament had completely different rules to the new testament, for example during that time people had to make offerings and sacrifice animals so that God would not kill them. However, the new testament brings in a new set of rules: In Romans 10:8-10 Paul says, "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved." So we don't need to sacrifice any animals to be saved anymore... Where this relates to killing/not killing, in the old testament God viewed people and sin as the same. And so when a group or a person would sin and not sacrifice a pure animal in their place, they would have to die because of their sin. However, in the new testament, Jesus is the perfect/one-time sacrifice so now if we choose to repent and ask for forgiveness, etc. Then God looks at us and finds no sin. And that is the good news that as Christians we have been commanded to share with others by Jesus before he went to heaven to prepare a place for those who believe. I really hope this helps those of you who have questions, and if anyone has any more, I would love to answer as best as I can. God bless!

The holy spirit was not in us at that time. By his grace and mercy those in disbelief are protected by the Lord. All is revealed that's hidden.

The questions that the son is asking in this video is not complicated at all. Part of the problem is that it's difficult for humanity to acknowledge that God can and does destroy his creation. He is the father of creation, the maker and the destroyer of creation.

I love how dad admits he doesn’t know the answer, I am a minister in training and I can assure you sometimes we gotta take a double take on what Gods saying. Dad was right, Old Testament Jesus was not on the scene and the word DOES tell us why God commanded the Jews to kill. One was in self defense because not everyone roles with Yah. The main reason as told in the OT was because God is holy and righteous and the people who God commanded to destroy were aiming to convert the Jews into worshipping different Gods. They would bring their rebellious beliefs into the Israelite camps and God cannot have any part of unrighteousness, especially not tarnishing his covenant with Israel. To leave anyone alive would really just leave Israel with future enemies to deal with.

Hey my Brother, I would love to sit in on this conversation. I used to ask the same things that you are, and it took God really opening up my mind, my eyes, my heart and really showing me what love (His Love) really felt like, looked like, moved as in the time framed out before Jesus came to change the sin accountability rule. Gangrene is localized death...it is a decomposing of body tissue (listen to this). It is the direct result of the obstructed circulation of a body part (e.g., leg, arm, finger), or it could result from a bacteria infection that has infected the body part. The reality is that without immediate, decisive action, gangrene will kill the rest of the body...without question. Sin before Christ was gangrenous without a Healer. If you notice things like Genesis where before the flood, God was like, "every day they just think of different ways to be violent," in other words, the bacteria of Cain (sin....am I my brother's keeper) was causing the slow demise of the body. There are many other examples, but I will ask your son a real question...would you cut off a finger of your children to save their life? I'll even go one better. Would you remove a finger from your wife if it would give you move time with her? to be able to love her for all eternity? If you answered yes, then you have just stepped into the God zone...Before the healer of sin came (Jesus), the only thing that could be done to save the Bride was to amputate the infected area. Man, I love this crazy God I serve.
