I thought that Crufts were stopping showing deformed, sloping back GSDs? This poor creature looked uncomfortable. WHEN will people stop messing about with this magnificent breed, it makes me cry looking at these cow-hocked creatures.

I have a GSD, and he has a superb straight back unlike the poor GSD at crufts . They should ban breeders who still think the roached back is a breed standard and the judges should take this into account

I saw that and was concerned if that dog has hip dysplasia! A few years ago there was major backlash from the public after Crufts announced a German shepherd with very serious hip dysplasia was best in show! What kind of judges approved of that dog with a serious health condition??

The judges look like they haven't know what is non-verbal communication in dogs. I am devastated by what I see, the fear in the bodies of dogs and the treatment of dogs as if they were objects, as thing that has no soul.

@@Shadowpolish it's so sad to watch! But I guess I have to end protection work in the future if this is the bullshit breeders breed. Luckily we also have good breeders but yeah, this is what people see and it's not a good show

​@@Shadowpolishall the Belgian shepherds preformed beautifully in the breed rings , the gron is a multiple cc winner and has a fantastic temperament, they are all well loved pets , not robots , obviously just didn't like the judge

@@susanlewington5038 Nobody is asking for them to be robots. None of the other dogs in this group are robots, but they didn't stand there half pissing themselves while their handlers gripped onto their cheeks for dear life

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who dislikes what they have done to a fabulous breed. I was pleased that the handler had him at a slower gait. In the past the dog has been allowed to pull way out in front, which didn't show the dog at its best. Otherwise an improvement

The crowd numbers were way down at crufts this year. I think the organisers need to take a look at how the Americans put on a show like the Westminster show. I've always considered Crufts to be the biggest prize in dog showing but it seems like Westminster has currently overtaken it. Plus please stop the cruelty to the German Shepherd, that sloping back makes me so angry. It's just plain wrong.

Those belgian shepherds should not have been there. Terrible handling and scared dogs… Is this the kind of temperament we want to pass on? A shivering malinos, the groenendael was so scared it couldn’t even take a treat and the laekenois tail tucked between their legs. This is heartbreaking and abusive.

i was genuinely shocked when i saw these dogs. the belgian shepherd family is supposed to be a focused working dog... all of these in the ring looked terrified.. if those examples were best of their respective breeds, i am very worried about the state of those breeds

@@recycledMilk really hard to see yes, but we have to keep in mind, these are show line, so they luckily do not represent the state of the working lines.

As a Belgian shepherd owner, this is fairly normal behavior across all varieties. Show lines and working lines alike can have these moments and there isn’t a huge difference between the two lines except a lot of working lines have Dutch and German shepherd randomly in their lines depending on the breeding needs. Imo, something with the judge they did not like. This behavior is rare and usually an indication of something.

@@wholesome122 I own an NVBK line Mal and a KNPV line x Herder (Big Roy Pegge Bloodline) . I met a few Showline Mals and the differences where huge. Especially talking about curiosity, self esteem, confidence in new situations etc

This is fairly normal for the breed across all varieties and lines. They are picking up on something we cannot see in the video. BSD are not considered great crowd control dogs for this reason. They perform better in active and direct ways like in a swat team or for military objectives.

@@cornelia9201 yes there are many sadly who still do it... but in the UK it is illegal and you are not allowed to show a docked or cropped dog in a dog show in the UK... You're not even allowed to import them anymore...

OMG why do you breed belgian sheperds and WHY are they getting praised with that mentality?! This was so sad to see. This dog is a WORKINGDOG! This material would never fit with police work or protection. And just think all hours the owners have trained these dogs so people can touch them and you end up with THAT result, just so sad! I am sorry to say this, but I would be so embarrasd if I were the breeder and my puppy did that. Just disgusting.

This is pretty normal behavior for the breed. Hence why they are not the greatest in crowd control as they pick up on things and react to it especially involving people. They are great swat dogs and are excellent when working on a directed objective.

@@wholesome122 I know the breed, I have a malinois (and a dutch sheperd), bred for working, train and compete in protection (national sport) and with my dog dog that passed away 2 years ago a competed in IGP with... I know the breed have som social problems but it should not look like this in Crufts in my opinion. I dont even know how the judges can accept the handlers holding their dog like that. If the dog find it so hard it has some mental issues. I am not saying it is a bad dog, but it is something to keep breeding on? Is it something we want in our breed? This will affect the work, and yeah I know this, one of my dogs had social problems (genetic) and we worked on it, but if she did'nt have the problem she would be an even "better" dog (she is a fantastic dog, and I love her, but now I think of a breeding persepctive)

Conformation shows aren't about who is the prettiest/fluffiest/cutest dog, but which dog looks most like their respective breed standard as per the organisation behind the show. Crosses/mixes don't have breed standards in the KC, FCI or AKC, so there's nothing to judge them against
