Great review and comparison! You made some really fair points. One of these companies should hire you as a consultant to get input on designing the ultimate kits for beginners, intermediate, and advanced players at a variety of price points. You seem to know what makes a great eKit for a variety of players and where these kits both shine and miss the mark. Btw, that system to build the Donner kit is epic - no tools!!

After watching many of your videos I finally pulled the trigger and bought a Titan 70. Originally was looking at the Alesis Nitro Max or Titon 50 but your reviews and others convinced me to step up to the Titan 70. Alesis just doesn't seem to be on the same level as Simmons when comparing kits that are in the same price range.

@@KeithronPowell I recently upgraded from a Beginner Simmon's model drum set from a Thrift Store to a Alesis Nitro that i converted to a 3 piece set up with 3 crash cymbals, and i run it all through Steve Slate drums and another Program thats going out of Business called "Ugritone" You can actually get really technical with electric drums when you use external programs! I'd recommend any E-Drummer who's module has a Midi USB out on it to try this! the biggest benefit is that you're gonna have way more sounds, but you gotta remap the Midi on the program to match your drum kit :)

Hi Keithron, I know im late to this video but I was actually looking at purchasing one of these 2 sets. I saw the PRO model of the DED500 is on sale and only about 50$ more than the titan 70 so I was thinking of getting it. I really like the color of the DED500, but what would be the better option? Is the extra tom and cymbal better to go for? I like the stand alone high hat too, so many pros for both its hard to choose!

I love this review ! You so nailed it. I’m looking for e kit. ( probably more like $500 range ) but wow, these pluses are huge, and you hit them all .. Especially the cymbal decay and machine gun effect. So if I ask you , in the $500 zone, which is your favorite ? If I say hi hat reaction, sturdiness of the rack , and the BD pedal, and dual zone Snare, and cymbal choke is a HUGE plus, but not necessary. Any advice I’d greatly appreciate.

@KeithronPowell I really appreciate how you review budget friendly drum sets.I believe in the electric drum categorie most of the people tend to buy these drum sets for practice purposes and considering the space and sound problems which comes with acoustic drums. If possible, please check into tables top drum pads too.

I keep wondering what’s the drum that will take the T70 down. So far it’s been unbeatable by all the ones I’ve looked at. I think the DED500 Pro might give it a run though.
@general_mercer6 ай бұрын
Thanks for this comparison review! I'm seriously considering getting the Donner DED500 PRO. For a while I believed that the Titan 70 was the one for me, but after trying it out at a guitar center, it really felt so unnatural. Mind you, I practice with an Alesis- the cheap ones for $300- so I'm hoping that the DED500 Pro has that same feel. Especially with that separate hi-hat stand! Hopefully they send you the Pro to review, because I really hope it doesn't have a machine gun effect. But thanks again for these reviews, they're invaluable.

@KeithronPowell6 ай бұрын
In case I don’t do it… you need a computer (of course) a DAW, like Logic Pro or ProTools. Next you need to drop the drummers track into the DAW. I ideally it’ll have percussions in it to help keep time. If not you’ll have to use the DAW to create the click track, too long to explain here… next practice it multiple times before you record so you know where you’re going. Yeah… I need to do a video… that’s a lot of work though. Ugh. 😂

I say let your budget dictate. If you’re going to use a VST like EZDRUMMER or Superior Drummer it almost doesn’t matter. If you’re going to use the stock sounds go with T70. The sounds are the most natural sounding.

In my humble opinion, I would rather have less sounds that are very high quality (Simmons, Alesis) than a billion not-so-great sounds (Donner, any other crap brand). If I can import my own high-quality samples, I'd rather play a Simmons kit. Especially since some of the original drum programmers from Simmons in the old days are back to work with the current Simmons company. Just my opinion.
