I remember the first time that I saw her was back in the 70's. A friend of mine who was pursuing a career in fashion merchandising was singing her praises. He told me that there were some models who photographed well and then there were some models who excelled on the runway but the exceptional ones were phenomenal in both venues. To emphasize his point he spoke highly of Pat Cleveland. He spoke of the racism in the fashion industry and how things were changing. Although Pat was one of the models that opened doors for other women of color, she never got the praise due. I think it was mainly because she was of haute couture status. She always had such a striking presence. While the others usually sauntered out and offered mute poses, Pat had a way of attacking the runway and working the crowd that set her apart from all the rest. I don't care what the fashion polls say, reality speaks for itself. Pat Cleveland was and still is the epitome of what a model should be.

Yesssssss 💯 percent fact's But more importantly Pat Cleveland Open 🚪 doors for other black 🖤 models to succeed in the world 🌎 of high fashion because it was a lot of raceism in in the 1970s and 80s

This is what a model should be. Todays girls have much to learn from Pat. She understood the "show" in what a fashion show is.

For those who seek the TRUTH.....PAT WAS IT...now in my opinion she is the best runway model..as far as the TECHNICAL PRESENTATION OF A GARMENT...closely followed by BILLIE BLAIR.... but the designers wanted entertainment and drama on the runway... And PAT....BECAME A PERSONALITY.....but she is all around the BEST ON THE CATWALK...

Where there drugs involved. I wonder?
@a.rrucker54506 жыл бұрын
Yvonne Bryant It seems that you are not too familiar with the legendary Pat Cleveland or any other legendary runway models like, Anna bayle, mounia, kirat, dalma, iman,jerry hall,Alva chinn, etc, or are you familiar with a particular period in fashion ( generally from around 1978-1989. but especially late 70s to early 80s) when fashion shows were really "shows" and these models and many more but especially pat Cleveland worked the runway like no other! Go and search for runway shows from the 1980s or so, and you will see. These were runway models , not like the robots on the runway these days which I bet you are more familiar with , than the true runway models who were NOT on drugs doing the shows as you asked if pat Cleveland was on drugs based on her runway clips, you are so wrong, she was the runway, that's what was called "working it" and pat Cleveland did it better than anyone else , ask Karl Lagerfeld, halston, Stephen burrows, kenzo, claude Montana, Thierry mugler, Yves saint Laurent, et al, and you will understand.
@marymary68ify6 жыл бұрын
AR. Rucker just you wait up one damn minute. I never said Pat Cleveland did drugs my comment was referring to her daughter Anna Cleveland. PLEASE go back and read my comments. You definitely missed something. Furthermore I am a FASHIONISTA and a former black model myself. I am aware of black model history going way back to Ophelia Devore and Helen Williams as well as Donyale Luna. It was really the beautiful Helen Williams who opened the doors for black models in this country before Beverly Johnson. Donyale Luna was successful in Europe before Pat Cleveland came along. I am aware of Mounia, Alva Chinn, Iman and Jerry Hall as well as Billie Blair. I am very familiar with the models you mentioned and I am proud of the accomplishments that they have made in the fashion industry. You need to read: Beverly Johnson's biography THE FACE THAT CHANGED IT ALL and Pat Cleveland's biography WALKING WITH THE MUSES. Also I am well aware of the cocaine influence that runs rampant in the fashion industry I never got involved in drug use when I was modeling, but so many of the other girls did. Drugs ran wild in Studio 54 a place I frequented with other models so I know what I am talking about and I see the signs of drug use in Anna Cleveland, Pat Cleveland's daughter. .
@a.rrucker54506 жыл бұрын
Yvonne Bryant But nowhere in your comments did you say anything about anna Cleveland, when the clip is all about pat Cleveland???? And you state were drugs involved, what else would that mean? Involved in what???
@a.rrucker54506 жыл бұрын
Where do you see evidence of anna Cleveland using drugs???
@marymary68ify6 жыл бұрын
If you watch the clip in its entirety you will see Anna Cleveland in the end of the clip and that is who I was referring to. Now I am being specific my comments were about ANNA CLEVELAND.
@marymary68ify6 жыл бұрын
Were there drugs involved? Her actions on the runway suggest drug use.
