Pat Collins taught me and my sister hypnosis when we were teenagers. And it was right about this time too, the late 70's

I was lucky enough to see Pat Collins in Reno in early 1992. What a treat! It was just like watching her specials on Showtime when I was in school. To this day I still have the program that show that she signed for me.

Here's a story: I lived in Salem, Oregon at the time this came onto Showtime, and watched this over and over... In 1987 I moved to Victorville, CA and 10 years later I worked as an assistant manager at Service Merchandise and in 1994-7, a woman came in to shop and I helped her and her assistant, she was in a wheelchair at the time, and thought she was the nicest woman I've ever helped. I rang up the woman and input her name into the computer and checked her ID, I noticed the name "Pat Collins" and the light bulb turned on and I said "Pat Collins the Hip Hypnotist?", she smiled and said "The very one" I told her I have watched your 'special' several times and "Don" totally made the show. I thanked her for coming in and entertaining so many people over the years. A few months later I heard she passed, and it was a sad day but was happy I helped her and laughed all these years with Ms. Collins.

I lived in Hesperia then & saw her all the time. She used to come in the mall where I worked at a clothing store. No one knew who she was but me, & even I was too young to know of her - I only knew of her because at the time I was into 60s stuff.

What I wonder is how Lucy and Gail didn't get hypnotized during the show, since Miss Collins shows are said to be very real. So, what's the difference between being filmed for a sitcom and being in a real show? Patt was still doing virtually the same thing. I'm a little curious as to how that worked, such as if Lucy and Gail will really under.

I saw this when it originally aired and still talk about it. Every so often, I talk about Pat Collins being the best hypnotist ever. When I do, the last segment of this particular show I always mention. Now I have a full name to the face that made me laugh so hard. It is nice that I can see it again and laugh just as hard. Thanks so much!

My junior high had a hypnotist perform in the gym and the best bit he did was when he hypnotized a guy and said that when he thanked everyone for coming, the guy would stand up and shout "Shut up!" He did.

I'm so over the moon to find this...I remember watching this on Showtime like it says in the early 80's...I watched it many, many times myself & with my Mom..she loved it as well..of course, but we all said that guy "Don" was incredible & stole the show..I'm so happy to find this!!!!! I just wish I could be hypnotized..I've tried it for weight loss, quit smoking, etc.. I guess I'm just not open to suggestion but not for lack of trying darn it!! Thank you so much for posting this wonderful show! I'm only 15 minutes into right now & am already busting my gut laughing so hard..I needed a laugh! Thanks again, Suzanne Neese Idaho

Thanks Don! I don't know what made me think of looking this up..actually I do..my father unexpectedly passed away just this last May, 4 days after being diagnosed with bladder cancer..he was out mowing the yard 2 or 3 days before he fell ill. We had no idea he was sick! Our dear Mom isn't long for this world either so it hasn't been the best of years..I guess years ago she & dad went & saw a Pat Collins show & loved it..so, when this aired on Showtime all of us were watching it & oh my, did we enjoy it & laughed so much..that's why I looked it up..I needed something light to make my day..and you sure as heck did!!! My Mom doesn't have a computer, none of us have smartphones..I'm just trying to figure out a way to play this for Mom again.my sister & I live together, takes turns taking care of Mom, Mom is not able to come to our house because of our steps, no ramp, etc. I really want her to see this again before she goes to be with Dad. Sorry Don, don't mean to be a "Debby Downer", I just want to really cheer my Mom up!! I'll figure out some way..thank you for giving our family & several thousand others the joy of watching this again!! Take care & God bless!! Suzanne Neese Idaho
