Man, I miss this guy. Got to see The Smithereens in a small room in Vegas a few years before his passing. When he stopped and told stories between songs, You felt like he was talking directly to YOU. As a bonus, the band was completely on point for the whole show. Then they met us all outside as we left the venue. I have never felt so entertained and appreciated. RIP Pat.

A great writer and singer with a great band. A huge shame he left so early. I love all those smithereens albums. Unforgettable.

The amazing thing is that it’s just him and an acoustic guitar but the performance captures the same mood, feel and texture as the full band, electric version. Pat was the genuine article. He was a regular and decent person who knew how to write songs and sing in a way that could touch people. He had a good band with him and they all did a great job of bringing the songs to life. I saw them at a spring outdoor concert at college in 1987. I still remember how good they were. RIP Pat DiNizio.

Had the chance to open for Pat and the Smithereens twice as a member of Brownie Mary in the early 90's. They became one of my all time favorite bands as a result. Last year my current band played and Italian Festival in the street in Pittsburgh. i posted a video covering this song in which we acknowledged Pat and Company in our content field. Sadly, we were reported for copyright infringement. Anyway we are Smithereens fans and didn't mean for anything dishonest or disrespectful - just the opposite. So apologies from us to whomever it may concern. Great Song!

It's an automated You Tube thing. I seriously doubt Pat and the boys would mind...it's the damned record company bots! You can dispute it, you know...
@stevekaz146510 жыл бұрын
Mizzez Conclusion Well i really like your videos! Truthfully, i figured that "complaint" or "notice" wasn't really a big deal, and that it didn't come from the band. Listed was a record company, but i can appreciate the integrity of publishing and trademarks as i also pay for and own more than a few so i just acknowledged it because it's not like it's a "real" music video. My son is singing and i'm playing guitar, trying to pull off a great Smithereens song, like a couple of hacks in the street! How can i complain? we got free Italian food! (btw the video is still up) And hey, thanks for your input, and for posting GREAT videos.

I could say 100% Pat and the band would have been honored to see that and NEVER would have complained.....as someone else said, it was an automated youtube action.

The "bus of never-ending" picked up Pat and took him to a destination unknown. We miss you and the Smithereens. I wish more people could have told him so, while he was on this side of the wall. He was equal to McCartney in writing. Journey well Pat.

Nice job talking about the importance of books and libraries growing up. We had to really work to research.....not just google something. I think you remember more when you work harder to get it. I don't discount online research...it takes minutes what once took weeks to research, but people still have to remember to "FACT CHECK" because it isn't about finding something that agrees with me, but about finding TRUTH. Thanks Pat!!!!!

My friends The Joneses, toured with the Smithereens , so I knew Pat kind of, I was at work and walked into the store room, where someone had setup a tv/vcr, and was watching a Smithereens video, as soon as I saw it playing I blurted out: " I love these fucking guys!" And as I said that I look up and Pat was standing there..laughing.. I'm glad I got to see him before he died.. Btw, I know Kim, from The Bristols and we got to talk about her a little.

My favorite MAD ( I only knew from reading my cousin' s back issues) magazine issue was the parody on the rifleman series where despite a non-violence posture his father usually had to kill the villan- his son asked him why he used a rifle- his reply " there is more room on the stock for notches". I got that even when I was what 10-12 at the time.

no, I play and sing both songs and this is not similar to turn the page other than both are in e minor, (this is e flat tuning but e minor shape on guitar) why try to discredit a great song? Seriously, what drives people like you to to try to ruin things?
