See I don’t get that. I’m a Golden Knights fan and I followed the expansion draft, but even after the draft, there were still experts saying that it was one of the weakest rosters in the NHL and could be one of the worst teams record wise in NHL History. Once we started winning is when everyone started saying we got a stacked team out of the draft. That narrative isn’t correct. While it’s probably true we made out better than most expansion teams, everyone still expected us to be terrible.

I have friends on the inside and they had a very tough time with copywrite and trademark infringements. They even asked to use the name from the WHL team called the Thunderbirds. So the Kraken refers to a mythical Octopus or Squid that is big enough to crush ships. The name Kraken is Scandinavian, which Seattle and the surrounding areas have a lot of Scandinavian ancestry and communities like Poulsbo. The Main logo is meant to pay respect to the old Seattle hockey team the Metros whose logo was a massive S with Seattle in letter in the middle. The smaller logo is the anchor whose top becomes the Space Needle. All of the Pro sports teams have paid tribute to the maritime history, SOUNDers (Pudget Sound), Mariners (sea men), SEAHawks. I’m more surprised no one is mocking the arena name The (Amazon) Climate Pledge Arena.
