With the initial clip I was thinking "this player just shows up on this show to crap on him? That's not cool." But then I see clip two where he cuts the promo and then it all comes together. The media will criticize players all the time because it can be warranted. But imagine if a player was mad at someone like Ian Rapoport or Mike Florio. Would either of them have that type of passive-aggressive sarcastic response where they crapped on the player? No, they would probably just say something like "My job includes assessing players and sometimes that will involve criticism. It isn't anything personal." There would no mocking tone to it or anything like that. That's the difference between a professional and a jerk. All sports analysts criticize players but some make a big show about it and include little personal digs in their comments and that's when it is perfectly reasonable for the player to dislike them.

@@_The_Journey He was projected to be a top 15 pick. He had 12 sacks over his last 2 years in college while playing out of position as a NT. He was being compared to Stephon Tuitt and Deforest Buckner ironically. He just can't stay healthy and when he is on the field he's a terrible run defends and really bad pass rusher. This is probably his last year to prove he can be a starter in the league. There's no way the 49ers pick up his 5th year option if he continues to struggle or gets injured again.

@@luckyluis1203 I agree Kinlaw overreacted, but there are many reporters who have been critical of Kinlaw the past two years and he hasn’t said or done anything to them. I’ve watched enough of Cohn’s content to know how disrespectful and purposefully insulting and abrasive he is to players and coaches on the Niners, not to mention he knows very little about the nuances of the game for someone who covers the sport professionally. So I understand why Kinlaw lashed out the way he did, even though he should have handled it differently. There is no excuse for what Will Smith did to Chris Rock after making one harmless joke about his wife. It’s comparing apples to oranges IMO.

This is a symptom of non-violence. I swear, I have a weak stomache for violence. I don't like seeing people get beat up. But I do think there is such a thing as "Instructive violence". I've always been a decent sized guy and I have never even considered provoking a giant athlete because I would expect to get rocked. Again, I am not on board with strong violence but one back hand is all it would take to tame people this reporter.

Reading tweets from the 49ers players backing their boy is nothing new. Even if they don't agree with him you always back your teammates. Honestly they were both wrong in the interview. I'm sorry Pat, but you've got the facts wrong, skipped over key details, and clearly you've never followed Grant Cohn. Grant is a very critical reporter, some people do not like his opinions, but saying that he "antagonizes" players is definitely an overreaction. He sticks to football and never attacked anyone personally, never questioned players' work ethic etc. In fact, during these 20 minutes you've said more hateful and personal stuff than I've ever heard him say for as long as I've been following him. That being said, I understand why players might be frustrated with Cohn, and I'm okay with them criticizing him back (as long as they stick to facts and away from personal attacks) but borderline physical assault and threats towards a member of press, which is what Kinlaw did, is wrong and unacceptable for an NFL athlete, no matter how they feel about a reporter - he's lucky he won't get punished for this in any way.

TOTALLY out of context and in wrong order of events. Did you even call Cohn, Kinlaw or the 49ers to verify the facts? Hopefully you'll do a retraction. The "Sue" comment, in context, was a joke. The baseball field comment was first, the solo commentary vlog was before the interview. Kinlaw jumped into his live broadcast unplanned - he thought they would talk it out/squash it. But Kinlaw wouldn't even listen to Cohn. They met in Niners office next day and talked it out man to man with Lynch. Retraction tomorrow??? In scale of wrong behavior, probably 25% Cohn/75% Kinlaw. Kinlaw sought him out on the field, creeped up BEHIND him. Then knocked his hat off his head.
