I've been a Pat Metheny fan for a very long time, but I've never heard this song before. I actually picked it because the picture was so sad. I was staring at the picture, and then the music started. I instantly started to cry. I wanted to give that dog a hug and take him home and give him some place warm and safe. I know that sounds ridiculous, but this kind of music brings out such strong emotions for me. I'll always be a Pat Metheny Group fan for life!! Thank you Pat and Lyle! Another thing, I wish this song was a lot longer, 3:12 is much too short.

I love the picture. I have a dog like this and I love him as all my other dogs in my past. But now I love them more..and this song reminds me of the love and happiness dogs give to all. But, many are mistreated and forgotten, left alone and abandoned..when all they do is good to this world...

This song is most definitely about a lost person, soul, animal, and or whatever the listen is missing. You can hear the actual love and pain in the slow tempo and carefully plucked guitar. Bob Curnow did a fine arrangement of this featuring excellent flugelhorn work. Overall, a fantastic piece with such beauty.
