1,000% true. A supremely gifted composer and keyboardist. If you have not heard his self-titled solo release, you need to.

Hey, don't forget about the singing of Mark Ledford and David Blamires. That group was Pat's best, in my opinion.

I totally agree and I had the pleasure of seeing them live in concert 10 times and the first time was in 1980 and the last time was when they were touring the Way Up Cd,which was their last Cd together.✌🏿

Something to Remind You (Me) about how much I miss having this music as one of the main focuses in my life..older, busier, family and other priorities..I hear this and I'm once again a younger man with a brighter outlook on the world and being in it..The PMG was a gift to us and I so miss and remember their time '77-'05-ish as a moment in time of joy, hope and happiness..

I saw PMG in Clearwater at Ruth Eckerd Hall in 87 and immediately fell in love. He came back to the Capital Theatre on 2/20 with his Side Eye tour and I fell in love all over again. I wept at the end of his concert when I thought about how much he must miss Lyle. It was a beautiful and exquisite evening. He took 3 encores and it was magical! He is without a doubt the most talented and humble artist this world has known!

Thank you for recognizing Lyle. He was a very gifted person and such a nice, unassuming soul. He is deeply missed. God Bless him, his family and his fellow musician friends.

I saw the same show at REH in '87 as well as seeing the PMG at several other venues throughout Tampa Bay, including at the intimate and beautifully ornate Tampa Theater. RIP Lyle Mays.

Agreed!!!Seen him a dozen times since 1980(gasp) and had the pleasure of meeting him 3 times pre/post shows. As both a fan and keyboard player, he was a huge influence. Truly grateful to have been in the presence of such genius. You are missed, Lyle.

If PM went on the road with this music nowadays the audience would mainly be old people like me. He spun it out for many years with huge tours . I attended 2 fantastic gigs never to be forgotten. Hey he carried on with many different bands but with less of a following still chasing his dream. I feel that there is a surprise to come and I hope it's a solo album of cover versions , just think what he could magically produce

Actually...one of the best jazz stations that ever existed was WCHD with Rosetta Hines and Ed Love. For those of you who are too young to remember/know: WCHD was the predecessor of WJZZ. Yes, I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan...and I was truly fortunate to have a loving, devoted father who also loved jazz music. Chao. Pretty much the only “smooth jazz” I can get behind is from PMG, and it’s members. I often think the height of swing/big band, is my least favorite era/sub-genre of jazz (bc I find it overly commercial at the expense of creativity)… and then I remember “smooth jazz” was a thing, and I suddenly love the most commercial swing.. Point being, I mostly have contempt for smooth jazz, but PMG’s stuff still strikes me as truly creative, and actually artistic expression that just happened to often be smooth, and was commercially successful (as opposed to creating smooth stuff for the sake of commercial viability). 🙏🤘✌️♾

The video is completely something different, out of sync or otherwise, from what is being played. closeups of Pat during his melodies are of him strumming chords or doing nothing at that second! useless
