I am thoroughly enjoying Pat Metheny's music. Have been listening to all genre's and found his music very soothing. Being South African, 73 years of age, retired i spend lots of my time listening to music and it's amazing how much good music is available on you tube.

@@aralsea1 Me too!! I'll never forget when I left my old house for the last time after my divorce in 2017... playing "To the end of the world" as I saw my house disappear in the rear view mirror....that changed me....gosh I'm almost in tears now just thinking about that moment. I will NEVER forget it. Not because of the love lost, but because of how profoundly this music spoke to me and how it absolutely lifted me up through that period. In a less than literal way, but still a very important way, Pat's music has saved my life. Take care, friend. 💚

Mark Feuilherade Beautiful music is universal, and Pat's certainly is! As an amateur musician, sometimes I use this track, Red Sky, and others from years past to warm up my voice and put me in the right frame of mind to perform. I've been listening for a several decades and even his older works I still consider fresh and wonderful. Welcome to his universal fan club! : )
@brentward57395 жыл бұрын
Met him in person and was hooked 30 or more years ago...you're not alone in feeling alone! He has a large fan base for a modern jazz musician, but I too feel alone in my admiration for his music here in America. He's not mainstream, so it's easy to feel alone when you mention his name and no one knows who he is. At least his songbooks will keep his music alive after he passes from the earth someday. Publishing his song book and his The Real Pat Metheny Book was smart and will do much to help his legacy continue, at least among musicians like myself...

Nice touches by Lyle near the song's end: just after (6:01), those Bill Evans accent chords on piano; and just after (6:32), those higher note, horn-like synth flourishes. Ornamentation where it counts, in my opinion.

By the way, do you know he solos on Joni Mitchells live album (cant remember the name... something and light?). Not a lot of people know that!
