Pat Metheny is as high as you can go in music. There are many great musicians in the world, dead and living, but his is the pinnacle of achievement possible by the human intellect. Centuries on, his music will be studied, there will be Ph.ds based on his music and so forth. Should our progeny be so lucky, his music may even be performed live as homage (and only as homage as no mere worthless mortal can be or play as him). Perhaps Bach and Metheny will look down on them with a tender smile from the immaterial planes above, the way fathers smile at their children.

There's no pinnacle... There is a volume of possibilites that human can go on that type of area. I believe he's awesome, but he's not all things in music. Absolutely. And i love him.

Did you transcribe it in writing on a score by chance? I also love this piece of music! In particular the final of the solo from 5:46 is a kind of apotheosis I find.
