August 22, 2016. The great Toots Thielemans has made his final bow at age 94. Somehow this exquisite piece symbolizes that, with Pat's accomplished mellow guitar playing..that although life is short, some things in life can live on . Always and Forever...and Toots, your wonderful haunting and soulful harmonic playing and themes will live on in our hearts and minds...always and forever too. You walked on the bridge of life and now there is a rainbow behind you that you can see but not your fans waving to you to say their final goodbye. May you RIP and bask forever in that glow of autumn sunshine as you continue on your journey somewhere in the astral mists of time

I got here by the miracle of Autoplay. I was listening to Toots Thielemans and Quincy Jones at the Montreaux Jazz Festival. I was actually crying a little -- it moved me to tears. Now this... one of my all-time favorites. Toots and his harmonica take this song to an entirely new level. At that point the music seems to be straight from the heart.

Sadness, reflection, self-discovery...this music provided the soundtrack during a major (and very unwelcome) life change many years ago. I was shaken and weak, with no vision for my future, but God was my vice, my vision, and my hope (always and forever), and Pat Metheny masterpieces, such as this, were the voice of comfort and inspiration to me...speaking words of kindness and cheer to my heart. That fulcrum of my life defined me, even if only for myself, and this precious music, more sweet than bitter, stirs the spirit between my arms, still, reminding me of that passageway to the wonderful new day and life that would meet me not so much further down that otherwise lonely road.

I find Pat's music very evocative yet soothing. When my daughter moved to California. I binged on the beautiful song, "In Her Family" by Pat. It still brings tears to my eyes, yet it helped me cope somehow.

Reflections on the images. We walk along life's bridge, on a path carpeted with autumn leaves, leading to a place that beckons of sweet solitude, in a canopied forest of nature's changes in the seasons of our lives, down the misty tree lined boulevard into a sensual place that gives us pleasant memories of sunlit days gone by, the road leads us to a sunset coloured pond with the autumn leaves surround us. The stepping stones traversing the pond lead us to a beautiful cascade rushing down into a lush meadow , then to the still reflecting waters of the lake, and finally to a dock on the beach in the setting sun, where our foot steps are recorded in the sands of time, as this day of our life closes on us with autumn's chill surround of nightfall.... we seek a place to warm ourselves, but the memory still remains in our hearts.....Always and forever.
