Pat O'Brien's, New Orleans, LA - Bucket List Bars

Pat O'Brien's. Few bars are so synonymous with good times and fun. Just off of Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Patty O's has been letting the good times roll since 1933, though their history goes back a few years before that.
Opened originally in 1930, Pat O'Brien's has become the go-to place to party and relax in the French Quarter. In fact, there's not an event, holiday or gathering in the Quarter that isn't held at this historic locale.
The building itself, built in 1791, is a sprawling compound with multiple bars (each with a history of their own) and the world famous courtyard--complete with flame-spewing fountain.
The Pat O'Brien experience is made complete with their signature Hurricane, invented in the 1940's to get rid of surplus rum.

I have different glasses from different trips. I'm still heartbroken that 1 got broken last time I moved. This is the rare glass you get to keep from a drink, that you actually will use for the rest of your life!

I was a weekend bartender there, Patio Bar for 2 years during college. Reality, the glasses are put in a liquor box (12). A want fills 3 at a t8me and the top is closed. Crushed ice is added right before it’s served. DONT allow them to add fruit. Customers constantly reached over into the fruit bin to take extra. Grubby hands

I was there with a friend in summer of 1962 when he had two very large ladies pound the stuffins out of two pianos. Unfortunately all they were playing was "twist" numbers cause it was really hot that year.

They’re premixed is probably what he means. It’s in the glass, in a case of 12 when the bartender receives them. Adds ice and serves.

I like the video,,, but then the how to seems,,, disapointing. to be able to make it we need proprietiery rum and a unexplained mix..

+Win Schutten yeah sorry about that, we tried our best to get the recipe, all we got was "passion fruit and some other stuff". The rum isn't a big deal, you can use anything golden, and they sell their mix online. Plus plenty of copycats out there. Cheers and thanks for watching.

I still have my glass from 1999. I loved the Hurricane. I tried one up here in MI, and they put grenadine in it. Almost sent me to the hospital. I’m allergic to it. When I make it at home, I use 3 different 100% juices and 2 kinds of Rum.
