This is painful to watch, but one thing I know is that all these players want to be paid more than anything, which is absolutely understandable. With that being said, let Jimmy walk in FA. Wade did not draft himself. We were in the East Finals before Wade and eliminated by Michael Jordan just like everyone else. Pat brought in Shaq with the Caron Butler trade to help Wade. Not to mention the other pieces for all of those championship teams. Alonzo Mourning was kicked out of practice and he even went to the Nets for a while, Shaq was criticized for not practicing. Pat had to ensure that there was enough cap space to make the big 3 happen. Lebron or Wade don’t have any rings if it weren’t for Pat. Even the Jimmy Butler tenure is a success despite what the media may have you all think.

1:57 Dan is wrong here. Jimmy was supposed to be "the guy". But Jimmy had to drag less talented, overachieving teams to the Finals. Riley and Spoelstra got a little cocky about the "Heat culture" thing and just assumed that hard work & grit were going to elevate them past far superior rosters. At that time, there were the Nuggets, Warriors, the emerging Celtics, Clippers, Giannis & his team's depth, KD, Kyrie & Harden going to making different superteams & Lebron+AD, HOF. Jimmy, Bam and who else were supposed to win rings against that?

The Heat had PJ Tucker and Kyle Lowry in 2022 and were the 1st seed in the Eastern Conference. Acquiring All Stars doesn't guarantee anything. Let's say the Heat did acquire Damian Lillard. That doesn't guarantee a championship. The Brooklyn Nets had Durant, Kyrie and Harden. The Phoenix Suns right now have Beal, Durant and Booker and are under .500. I've lost all respect for Jimmy Butler. He is am immature prima donna. He belongs in Gitmo.

Agree with Jimmy that Pat did nothing to upgrade the roster this year. I was surprised myself they went with pretty much the same roster as last year. But this is a business, and Jimmy's 35 and injured half the time. Going forward, he won't be worth what he wants. Jimmy won't find anyone who will match is Heat option next year, and the Heat will have a hard time trading Jimmy. Best to suck it up and play it out.

Jimmy Butler has botched his career. He now wants to force himself to a fifth team and at this point acts a lot like James Harden. Jimmy saying he wants to leave though telling Memphis today not to trade for him. He said the same about the Bucks and Minnesota. There are only two teams with cap space to sign him to a max next season, Nets and Wizards, and neither want him. Golden State is stepping away. Jimmy doesn't hold the cards here. He either goes wherever he's traded and opts out of his 52.4M left on next year's contract or good luck to him finding a team willing to pay him at 36-39 years old to a max. Riley wants him out whether by trade or letting him turn down that 52.4 and leave at the end of the season. The Heat would then have a lot of freed up money to go after younger players.
