I never had the honor of meeting Pat but you'd know by the way he spoke and conducted himself that he was a total gentleman. I was so saddened to hear of his passing, he will be a huge loss. God help his family, I'll say a prayer for him and them tonight. May he rest in peace. I will always remember how happy I was for him on the day he won the derby on Harzand, a true legend and a great man.

I've followed Pat Smullen's career for a long time, particularly the years he rode for the master, Dr. Dermot Weld, and simply put PAT DID THINGS RIGHT! From start to finish. Any up and coming young rider should be honored to strive to be even half the person that Pat Smullen became representing this sport. RIP Pat.
